DYK Thread for December

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

See I'm too nice. Of course, that might have its own advantages for some kids....they could feel at peace and not give ME a hard time (doesn't work with all kids).

I have a GREAT group of kids this year. My 4th & 6th hours give me a headache, though. 6th hour is not horrible....they're just chatty and I feel so comfortable being chatty with them, that I always feel like we're getting behind. 4th hour, I have a bunch of friends, who are separated as far out as I can separate them, but that means I have jokesters literally across the room. I think I should just put them all seated together and ignore them and teach the rest of the class, but you know I can't do that...lol. It's mostly boys, but there are a couple girls. And I have some very weak students in that class, and very few "Beta" students in that class.

Aly's doing great. She was struggling with band (clarinet), but seems to have gotten out of that slump (at first, I worried that her teacher just started GIVING her As, but she really is improving...I still don't think she's an "A" band student, but I didn't want her to miss AB honor roll because of band).

She had all As first 9 weeks, but she may have 1 or 2, or maybe even 3 Bs this 9 weeks. We'll see. For all I know, it could be all As. We had finals the last week of school, and that could make or break you. Thankfully, I only had 2 students (out of 150) drop a letter grade, and neither dropped to an F.

I wouldn't say "petite", since she's 113 lbs. (I didn't hit 100 lbs until 8th or 9th grade, but was a bit taller).

I'm not ragging on her weight (as Mike thought I was last week) because I know it's the puberty fat (I also hadn't started my period until I was in 8th grade).

I know this doesn't prove much, since my nephew is Santa & he's pretty short himself, and the other girl is my step-niece Ali who is a JUNIOR IN COLLEGE, but here's a recent full body shot of Aly.

I can never remember how old everyone is on this board, how old is Aly again?

Abby turned 12 in October, and I think she was right at 110 lbs.
