DYK Thread for December

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

Alysha, Michael just called me back

He said that it's really rare for birth control to fail with antibiotics, and it's usually with Rifampin

But to be on the safe side, he said to use back-up non-hormonal contraceptives while you're on antibiotics, and for 1 week afterwards

HTH!!

Oh, and I just told him it was "A friend of mine wondering" LOL

He never asks who

He's already used to me asking him stuff for friends and family :)

I didn't check many books out at the library (the school one). I LIVED at the local one. I would ride my bike or walk there from my grandma's.

I RETURNED Blubber to the library, and they said I didn't. My grandma paid for it, but I DID return it, I know I did!

Aly's read Blubber, Are You There God, It's Me, Margaret, and the Fudge series. I read all of those recently, too. I had forgotten about the anatomy book & the Playboy in that book. I KNEW what Playboy was pretty early on in life...before I read that book. Aly didn't...in fact, I kind of had to clue her in (without really cluing her in) the other day when we bought Mike some Playboy guitar picks. I just told her that it was an adult magazine, and then I reminded her that it was in that book, but she didn't remember.

I still have my own copy of Are You There God, but I borrowed a copy from the library for Aly to read because my copy's pretty beat. I also have It's Not the End of the World, and Tiger Eyes. But I haven't read those in ages.

Aly had a friend Alexandria that went by Ali.

I teach 3 this year (never have before, though I have taught a few closer (not exactly) to my name). I have an Alison (Ali), and Allison (Alli), and an Alexandria (Ali, but has decided to go by LeLe now so as "not to cause confusion"...her friends & parents & some teachers still call her Ali. I try to remember to call her LeLe out of respect, but like that's going to confuse ME...that's my daughter's name).

In elementary school, Aly went by Alyson on everything. Her teachers knew *I* called her Aly, and once she made friends with Ali (who went by Alexandria, too), they thought it was cool to call each other Aly/Ali, so their friends did too.

But once she started at my school, she even writes her name on school work as Aly. There is another Ali, or it might be Allie, but that is HER name, in her grade.

So don't you turn into a vampire if you get bitten by one?

I never understood the whole thing with vampire bats

I guess there really are bats that drink animal's blood though, right?

Like cattle and stuff. . .

But don't they live in like South America?

I would love to go to Yellowstone too

There are so many places I want to see, and show my kids

I had a high school friend named Allison (never Allie), that knew I was going to name my daughter Alyson (or Allyson, but I dropped the second L pretty early on). After she was born, my friend called her "her namesake". She knew why, though.

We want to take the kids on the Disney Cruise too

We have all these great plans, and they never seem to happen, LOL

Michael and I did go to Italy last June, though, and that had been a lifelong dream

It was all it is cracked up to be

Now we need to take the kids to Greece

Maybe this Summer. . .
