DYK Thread for December
**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**
DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know
It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members
Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

Yes, that was last year.
LOL about "Goober"
Matthew started writing "Matt" on his homework in 3rd grade, and I found out the teacher and some of the kids at school had started calling him that
There's nothing wrong with "Matt", but I like Matthew better, and that's what we named him
I kept referring to him as Matthew, and had him write his full name on school papers, and no one seems to call him Matt anymore
As for Michael---his high school baseball coach was the only one who called him "Mike" and Michael actually corrected him
There were like 3 other Mikes on the team, and he told his coach that he didn't go by "Mike" so it would be easier not to mix them up, and the coach stopped calling him that
Other than that, I have never known anyone to call him "Mike"
Kind of funny, since Michael is a common name, and you would think they would, but I guess Michael---like Matthew---is not that long, so you don't really have to shorten it
Your MIL was right though---he's gotten some other nicknames over the years
When he was in residency, the nurses called him "Dr Heartbreaker" LOL
Then for a while one older doctor called him "Dr Bleeding Heart" because he is a big advocate for the uninsured and homeless there
Then like 2 years ago, they started calling him "Dr McDreamy" at work (Even though he looks nothing like Patrick Dempsey, LOL)
They actually got him a white coat for his birthday last year with that embroidered in place of his name as a joke
He doesn't like it, but he can't seem to break them of it, so your MIL is right---people are going to pick up nicknames whether they like it or not
Serves Michael right though, because he has little pet names for everyone, so payback's a you-know-what, LOL
He calls and all his siblings call Monica "Mouse" and they always have (I guess because she's the youngest), and he calls my sister Katina "Hurricane Katina", and my sister Maria "Ace", and he was the first one to start calling me "Sofie" back in high school
I don't mind "Sofie", because somehow it sounds less formal, but most people call me "Sofia"
