DYK Thread for December
**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**
DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know
It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members
Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

I didn't even know it was supposed to snow, but right now that white stuff is swirling around and it's really windy
It looks like it's sticking, too
Maybe we won't be going out partying tonight
I won't be driving in it with all the drunks on the road, I know that much!
So much for me volunteering to be designated driver
Michael can just stay sober and drive if we do go, LOL
LOL! That's OK
Getting "hung up" with DH is much better than DYKing, LOL
I didn't get "hung up", unfortunately
My hubby fell asleep on the couch around 9:30 and that was the end of that
I don't even think he was awake when he stumbled up to bed with me
Maybe tonight we'll get "hung up" ;)
I always hated babysitting, New Year's Eve or not, LOL
I was never into kids at all until I had my own
I'm still not that maternal, really
We're trying to make it nice for Ashley tonight, though
Michael got her some sparkling cider and we have popcorn and ice cream
We are also paying her extremely well
I'm sure that's why she agreed, LOL
Aww, poor Zoe!
What is it, the flu?
I feel bad for her
That's so sad to be so sick on your vacation
Mike is Michael but has always gone by Mike or Mikey. I never called him Mikey, but people that knew him when he was little (like aunts & even his dad) will still call him Mikey.
I teach 2 Michaels this year...one Michael, the other goes by Mikey. So that's all I call him is Mikey. I was talking about him to another teacher (most other teachers call him Micheal...maybe all other teachers), and she thought it odd that I called him Mikey. I guess she figured it's a "joke" name, but, in my life, I see Mikey as a legit name to call someone since all these "not joking" women call Mike that...lol. I don't know what it is...so I call him what he asked to be called.
Not like the kid whose last name is Romero and his friends call him Romeo....lol. That's different.
Or the one last year that asked to be called Earl...after I taught him for a year the year before (Earl was nowhere in his name). I told him you might be able to pull that on your new teachers, but I know you. (They probably did, too, he wasn't the never-in-trouble kid.)
Matthew actually slept until almost 10 this morning
I was amazed
He must have been up late last night playing Nintendo DS under the covers again
I actually have a nickname that all of my family, all of Mike's family, & several friends use, but I always use my real name here & at school and when I was a student.
It's Lysh, you take the 2 As off and get that. My dad has always called me that, or Alysh or Lysha. Usually Lysh. It rhymes with Fish, so Mike calls me Lysh the Fish, and teaches all his nephews that too.
That's terrible!!
Kids are blunt!
My kids don't even seem to notice ethnicity or race, and I'm so glad
I agree...how does Rach feel about that? You?
If Aly notices color/ethnicity, she doesn't have words for it.
Her friend (almost 12) still calls anyone darker than her "brown" people. I wonder why it's so important to her to even separate them.
I take that back
Jenna told me recently when we were watching TV that Obama's little girls were lucky because they were "chocolate"
I told her that meant she was "vanilla"
She said "No I'm not, I'm coffee" LOL
My kids' skin is kind of dark like Michael's
Those Italian-Greek genes I guess
