DYK Thread for December

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

OMG Nicole! We really COULD be cybertwins!! We have SO MUCH in common!

I didn't move in high school, and my parents are still together, but my mom and I were at war with each other in a lot of ways, partly because of Michael

At first she liked him, but when we got really serious, she started trying to break us up (Long story!)

She was out and out mean to him at times (My mom has issues)

It caused me to sneak around a lot just to see him, especially my senior year when it got really bad

I saw Michael on the first day of 9th grade at a WELCOME FRESHMAN assembly, LOL

He had gone to Catholic school up until high school, so he was brand new, and me and my girlfriends thought he was "cute" when he walked in, LOL

All year I had a secret crush on him, but I didn't think he noticed me

We didn't have any classes together in 9th grade, but in 10th grade we had Biology together, and we had to pick lab tables and partner up. My BFF told me to go join him, so I got up my guts to do it, LOL

We got to be really good friends being lab partners, but it took him until Valentine's Day to let me know he liked me as more than a friend, LOL!

So we dated from the middle of 10th grade until after our graduation

OK, there is definitely something wrong with the teacher's teaching style if most of the kids are failing 2 tests in a row

There needs to be a huge curve

I am helping Justin with his math homework as I type this

It's 2nd grade math, so I can actually do it, LOL

Yep..sounds like my mom and dad. They fought so hard to keep me and DH away from each other. I snuck around (hence my ditching school because he was

I used to fake that I was clueless so he would tutor me, LOL

Sometimes I was clueless, because I was more interested in flirting with (And daydreaming about) him than I was about paying attention to our teacher

He was a wiz in Biology, and he majored in it in college

We dissected fetal pigs that year, and I was soooooo grossed out, and he was so into it! He thought it was cool (Yuck!), so I made him do all the work while I stood there watching (or closing my eyes)

Tenth grade Biology was when he decided to be a doctor

Before that he wanted to be a professional baseball player (Fat chance, LOL!)

He graduated 4th in our class and got almost straight A's, so he was wayyyyy ahead of me academically in high school

For me, high school was about the social life

Like I said, I hope my kids take after their dad

Michael and I were in the same grade, and graduated together

How far ahead of you in school was your DH?

I actually broke up with Michael the August after we graduated, because of my mom's pressure

I broke his heart :(

It broke my heart too

So when we got back together over 3 years later, I blew off my parents too, and did my own thing

I was 21 by then, and didn't care anymore

You guys have a romantic story

Are you close to your parents now?

(You don't have to answer that if you don't want)

My relationship with my mom was what made me afraid to have daughters

DYK what kind of phone did you get Kayleigh? I got the same kind as Rach a Pantech Matrix (? never heard of it before Rach requested it) has a pullout keyboard for texting & camera of course. A lot of her friends are getting one...a lot of them are on Verizon but we're not but I had to get her a texting plan to get the rebate/free phone. I'm like u, I'd be happy w/a basic one but its hard to get these days unless its pay as you go.

DYK the sales guy told me once the rebates come, then to switch to family texting plan which is cheaper...same for unlimited internet but I won't tell her so she thinks she has to control her texting

DYK one good feature I saw w/the phone is there are parental controls; one can set up a PIN number that has to be put in before certain web (i.e. internet) features can be used

DYK both girls seem to be doing well in school...Jamie came home & said she had to get a bad test grade signed by us...turns out only one kid passed so the teacher gave a retest & she got a 100 on it so she was happy...Rach has two Bs & four As I know of....can't see her online grade in Chinese since she takes that at the HS & their online grade system isn't accessible to the MS but interims come home next wk I think

DYK I hope the conference for Ian gives you helpful feedback

Life touch did ours. The people were obnoxious!

We did get the free 8x10.

The pictures then went by points. Most things were 2-3 points and you paid $25 per point.

DYK no the discount is offered only for parish members....which I don't have an issue with....then why on the registration form do they ask if you're Catholic but not if you're a parish member? Makes no sense to me....
