Congrats to Alexis!Gabby got her report card today too.Her lowest grade was a 95% in gym of all things.Gab actually had a few 100's too.I doubt Gab's %'s will remain as high as they are all year.No that she ever does poorly, but she usually does not get all !00's like Alexis.Ican't say that Gab works all that hard though. She does do everything she is supposed to do and some nights she spends a long time on homework, but that is becasue she needs to do it.Gab would rather socilize than study!
How do you feel about that?I have mixed feelings when teachers consider c's good, just becasue the class is advanced.Congrats to Caleb though. He must be proud of himself. Is his teacher taking the joy of learning away from him though?I hope not.It is so sad when they no longer get excited about learning, becasue they get burned out.
Alexis would probably prefer to socialize as well, but I think she really is a kid who thrives on being busy and working hard and then seeing the finished product. kwim? Tomorrow night will be the first time in over a week that she hasn't had something to do in the evening. She has cheer practice until 4:15, but that is it. She is usually running from sun up until well after sun down, but she likes it.
I personally don't agree with her about the grades. But, she is really pushing them. I talked to a mom today who told me their class was still on the first chapter of the science book,
I can agree with your dh to a point. My problem is they are pushing these kids more and more at such a young age,so that by the time they are in college they are burt out.Sometime the amt of homework Gab gets nightly is crazy. It really isn't even all that hard 1/2 the time. However, she was just in school all day,why is she coming home and putting in another day of school?Kids should have their evenings free to do what they want(dance sports, just hanging out whatever).I was annoyed with ar last year becasue the books they were telling Gab she had to read were boring to her.She really did not want to read classics, when ar is supposed to encourage kids to read. Now Gabby hates reading unless she absolutly has to for school, she will not pick up a book and read it for fun to save her life.Good Luck with Caleb this year.
I agree. I think DH said it cause he was shocked that I had actually said it to her face, and he was worried about Caleb getting the backlash. Either way, she knows now.
If you ask me (but I am not that educated) Alexis' work is HARD. She needed help with a math story problem last night and I didn't have a clue. What I did actually did help her (so she says) but I end up feeling very stupid. Math and Science are two of the toughies this year. Her science teacher will hand out study guiedes and then not finish them, but the answers aren't in the book....then they'll have a test. Two days ago she had questions about plants like this.
"Girls are called_________" "And they love__________"
We had no idea what she was talking about. And they did have a test yesterday. We'll see how she did.
This year English seems to be Gab's most confusing subject.English and reading are seperate this year so English vocab can be confusing, becasue they are just learning the definitions and they are nbot related to a book in anyway. On her last test two of her words were sullen and somber. The definitions o these words really are not too hard.Howevr, they get sentence and they have put in the correct word. All of this is without a word bank too and they have 15-20 words.Gab missed on last week becasue she put The workers were sullen when they lost their jobs. Then she put The sky was sober as the storm came through.Either word would fit in either sentence, but Gab never heard of a sullen sky.Plus not sure how that is proving you know the defintinions of the words since they can sort of mean the same thing.I can no longer help Gabby with math, the way they do it confuses me to know end.Science isn't too bad, they get a lot of lab conclusions that they have to do,but they are doable.Alexis's science sounds very confusing. You should have asked Alysha, she teaches Life science.

I agree Rasheita.
No matter who won, this election was a historical election.
Either a woman as VP or an African-American as President.
