DYK I'm waiting for DH to get home....he had a late meeting at the Pentagon so I asked him to swing by Chipotle & pick up chicken burritos for the girls...I'm not hungry so I didn't feel like going out again to get anything & the girls didn't want anything we had at home

DYK he just called....now he's on his way home from Chipotle....later!

That was what I was worried about...Aly hasn't seen Mean Girls either. The closest she's seen would be Bratz the Movie (which was all about the "better" way, so I was cool with it) and the little parts in Nancy Drew.

and how did the cat feel about that?

We have mummies at a nearby museum, but Aly won't go in the area. We also went to the Denver Museum of Natural History & Science and she wouldn't go but a few steps into the room.

She has the Egyptology book plus several other nice books like that...like National Geographic & stuff.

I'm not sure. That would be a cool gift. We will probably discuss this at Thanksgiving.

Aly already bought him a gift...an LSU Rubik's cube.

I would love to get him DVDs or an iTunes gift card, but, well, he gets those things from "alternative" sources.

SPike is 14 I doubt he would take well to Gabby mummifying him;-).Gabby has the Egyptology book, but it was next to useless on this project since this project was a bunch of triva/pop culture type questions

I'm glad he was able to get it out!

I'm also glad we are past that stage in this house!

I was waiting all weekend to find out where Michael took you :) It sounds like you guys had a great time!

We've been busy, the girls and I are actually at my mom's now, we got here this morning.

I took Abby to see Twilight today, she picked it apart more than I did!

I guess she paid more attention to the details in the book than I did :)

I think that's really great that they're teaching other languages besides Spanish and French in public school

To be honest, I don't even know what languages our high school offers, since my oldest is only in 5th grade

So far, both he and Justin (my 2nd grader) have had a bit of Spanish

I can see how Spanish is relevant, though, since we have a huge Spanish-speaking population

My DH is an Emergency Medicine physician, and he has had to teach himself a lot of medical Spanish just to communicate with his patients

Were you born in China?

Doesn't China have like 2 or 3 different languages? (Mandarin, Cantonese, etc)

Which is considered "Chinese" when you learn Chinese?

Do your girls know some Chinese from you?

Have they been to China?

(Sorry, I'm full of questions, LOL)

My parents were both born in Greece, and English is my 2nd language

I spoke pretty much only Greek until I went to kindergarten (except the English I learned from TV)

My husband's family is Italian-American (born here, like me), but he doesn't know too much Italian

It's a shame that Italian was lost in his generation

But then, I'm guilty of not teaching my kids much Greek either

Your girls are beautiful

You have Rachel, and what's your other DD's name?

I just have to say that I admire you teaching 7th grade

I recall that as being a hard age

I think 7th and 8th are hard grades

So many cliques and raw hormones

I know I was pretty insufferable at that age!!

I'm LOLing about Gabby wanting to mummify the cat

That reminds me of Tessa wanting to play dress-up with our cats

She didn't get very far

Luckily, they're declawed or she'd be very scarred
