DYK Thread for
October

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

If your child(ren) were not home for Halloween would you still give out candy?

The problem is parents don't make kids go to school anymore. Students can legally miss 17 unexcused days per year. There is NO reason for parents or students to know this!! Teachers shouldn't even have to know this because it should never be an issue!!!!

I have a student (who thankfully has only missed one day this year) that told me he will be absent next Monday because it's his birthday. WHAT?!?!?!?! No, you don't miss because it's your birthday!!!

Anyway....

if I'm home I will--if I'm not I'll bring them to SIL's for her to hand out (she lives down the street).

Yes, I'd give if she's not home because that'd be my only involvement with kids for the holiday...lol. I gave out before she was born, too.

I definitely would not have let my kids skip school to see HSM3.

It wasn't like it was a one day showing.

I did pull Abby out of school early for her 10th birthday, to go see the Cheetah Girls and Hannah Montana in San Antonio, and she missed school the next day because it was so late and it would have been a 2 hour drive to get back home.

Really, I don't get why they put those kinds of concerts on school nights.

DYK no I am not giving out candy this year.

DYK we have a house in our neighborhood who does extreme things each year.

DYK from what I understand we get around 5000-7000 trick or treaters each year

DYK as they come from all over the OC to see this house.

DYK last year they turned their home into a pirate ship.

DYK tore up their drive to put in a Moat

DYK had pretend cannons positioned on several balconies of neighbors that shot water.

DYK this year he is doing a big BLUE Man Group show.
