DYK Thread for
September
**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**
DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know
It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members
Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

DYK the heaviest rains will be tomorrow afternoon or evening
DYK I still think the chances are slim that Jamie will play her soccer game...its schedule for 10:20am

DYK most of the books in the bookcase are the ones read by Rachel? I have a new bookshelf waiting to be assembled since some of the books won't fit anymore
DYK they are just piled on the rug in my living room?
DYK its driving me a bit nuts having books on the floor when the girls accidently kick them? then they scatter? Nobody wants to put them back into a stack?

It's a teacher preference thing here. *I* like to order from book orders...lol. My first year of teaching, a co-worker did them, but she left. So I did them the past 2 years. I decided not to do it this year, and thankfully another teacher picked up on it after I had decided against it...yay!
But I'm still doing my own. I'm a "Red Apple Teacher" because I had such great orders my first year that I don't have to do a minimum. But I still get $10 for each order (the first order for that club that month) if I spend $20, so I'll be ordering the Monsterology and getting $10 of my choice books for free.

one reason I didn't want to do book orders this year is because I need to remember to hand them out in 6 classes, then I have to collect money, usually for a minimum of a week, and I have to do the finances the way the school dictates.
Other teachers (even in this district) will send the money directly to Scholastic OR have parents write the checks to the teachers (no thanks!) and then pay for the whole order with a credit card.
I have to deal with enough money with Beta, so that's really what deterred me from it this year.
yuck!
And poor Jamie!
