DYK Thread for
September

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

dyk well it's certainly cooler here than by you

dyk I would be glad for 80's all year long and green all year long, I would not miss the change in seasons a bit

dyk I hope Zoe and the grands enjoyed grandparents day

dyk when Kayleigh was in elementary school, they had that once for her grade, I forget what grade but Ian is in 4th now and it hasn't happened

dyk It made me mad because my parents were dead and IL's live 14 hours away, and we weren't told that you could have a substitute guest but other kids had their own parents there and she had nobody

dyk sorry for the vent

dyk enjoy the cooler temps

dyk its going to be 69 tomorrow here, come visit!

Dyk school year is off to a good start

dyk Kayleigh seems happy in school and apparently has had a good number of compliments on her new look

dyk she is especially looking forward to the Washington DC trip in April

dyk Ian is very enthusiastic about school and his teacher, so much for all those other parents who don't like her, I've never heard so much about his work and what he's learning as I have these 4 days.

dyk How about your girlies, how are things with school and sports?

Well, she has Mythology and Egyptology and read Dragonology. It's really just a thorough "expository text" that goes into the history of myths & legends, and all that, but it uses many different methods to tell this...there are letters to people, lift-flaps, "artifacts". It's just really interesting.

it's exactly what happened to Slidell, St. Bernard, and areas of Mississippi (Waveland, Gulfport, & Biloxi)...nobody knows that these areas had problems in Katrina.

There's little "normalcy" here...I can't just go to Wal-mart. It's a bit more complicated than that--I have to wait in traffic, not everything's well-stocked (because the trucks are in traffic, and people are buying things by the truckload as it is), there are lines for things that *I* don't need, but it makes just going to Wal-mart difficult--and scary.

DYK

I was glad to have that jean shopping done for Alexis too. Too bad I still have to do Calebs!

Why up to early?

I hope you can get to bed early tonight and get some rest.

No such luck here....Alexis won't even be done at dance until 9:30.

She will want to study.

School is okay, Caleb has a TON of homework each night. Alexis is making herself sick with worry about each class. Then she didn't do so great on a couple of quizzes on Friday and she was near hysterics this afternoon.

*sigh* I worry about her. I keep telling her that HER best doesn't have to to be THE best. She can't see it that way.

Hugs to Alexis!Gabby isn't loving 7th grade too much, the teachers are nt as much fun;-).Plus she does need to study more something she isn't used to.DOes Alexis have some time to study before dance.I know that with Gab if she danced until 9:30,there is no way she could study when she got home she would be in tears, she is just too tired by then. She does not strt dance until next week,so we have beengood when it comes to H/W and study. The latest Gab dance is 8:30,tha is late enough for her.She needs o be able to relax by 9:30 at the latest or she is a basket case. She gets up just fine, she just stresses too much.

dyk don't know why I was awake so early, just insomnia, happens to me

dyk I was up at 4 a.m. today and didn't fall back to sleep but at least I had been asleep by 9:30 so I had a possibly decent night of sleep

dyk How is Caleb handling the heavy load of homework?

dyk Ian's teacher is not giving much homework but needless to say, since I also work in 4th grade, I have plenty to supplement him with

dyk He really seems to like the teacher, I've never heard him talk so much about his actual schoolwork and what he's learning before, I used to only hear what he played at gym and recess LOL~

dyk Sorry that Alexis is feeling stressed
