DYK Thread for
September

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

I try to have Gab go into her room and lay down by 9:30 at the latest, however she will read a lot at night. She really does have a harder time falling asleep. They still need at least 8 hrs of sleep at this age,but it is hard for them to relax at time.I will say that Gabby gets up really well, but I have a feeling her moodiness is caused by lack of sleep.I hope Jasmin is feeling better.Does she have strep?I think Gabby is getting a cold, becasue she said her throat was a little sore.Gabby rarely stays home, unless she has an upset stomach or any type of fever.,other than that she tries to make it.Of course they get so much work, she is paranoid about making it up.

I don't think she has strep. Yesterday she complained about her throat but as the night progressed she started displaying cold symptoms. So I think her sinuses have been draining and irritating her throat. She had no fever so I gave her Tylenol Cold and sent her on her merry way.

She needs about 9-10 hrs of sleep. LOL! I am the same way too. I can't thrive on 8 hrs only. If I get a week of 8 hrs only..I am DEAD by the weekend. She used to go to bed at 9 and wake up 7:15 or so. The bus didn't come until 8:30. Being a year older she's now allowed to go to bed at 9:30 but the bus comes at 7:30! I am thinking of pushing her bed time back to 9:00. I don't know how that'll fair with her but we'll see.

Hi Laura. yes, Alexis does have time on Mondays to study before dance, plus a 30 minute break while she is there, so that helps. On Wed. she has a few minutes for homework and has to eat and be there by 4:30, but she gets out at 8:30 so it isn't as bad.

T/TH she has time before cheer, and it is done by 7, so plenty of time afterwards as well. She is really wanting to be perfect and it isn't as easy as before....I keep telling her she doesn't have to be THE best, but she doesn't see it that way. I'm not sure what to do to calm her down other than keep telling her she is okay and that she doesn't have to be perfect, nobody is.

DYK Alexis is usually up until 11 or later. I insist on bed at 11 but she will often have her lamp on reading after I head upstairs. She gets up to her alarm with no problems at 7, but I know an early night would make a world of difference every once in a while.

Gosh, I hope you can sleep even better tonight! I hate it when I have nights that I just can't sleep, but it doesn't happen too often to me.

Caleb is doing better than I thought he would with the homework...I'm pretty impressed.

Sounds like the year is going wonderfully for Ian and he has a great teacher! That is so important!!!

Thanks, I'm just not sure what to do about it.

Yep 7th grade is a lot different, than 6th was.Expectations seem to be higher.Although they did actually lower our grading scale.Gab was a little upset because she got a 9/10 on a math test. Then the teacher did not give it back so she could see what her misstake was,I always tell Gab the same thing just do YOUR best,That is great that Alexis can sleep until 7.Gab is up most mornings at 6.
