DYK Thread for
September
**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**
DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know
It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members
Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

yes, they said in the Houston area, some people could be with out power for days on end....Yikes!!!
And yea, the cold showers.....that would bite!!
Andrew doesn't know what a field goal is either...LOL
but, he has learned alot about baseball this season....from just sitting with me and watching it. :-)
So, since football season has just started....he still has a chance to learn...LOL
dyk which Univ of MD campus did you go to?
dyk 3 of my nephews went to Univ of MD College Park
dyk It could be an option for Kayleigh as well since they have a good animal sciences program
dyk that would give me an excuse for frequent visits to my sister!
dyk I figure if Kayleigh goes there, her best friend Rebecca can go to since they have a great theater department, one of my nephews was a theater major and is now a grad student at Northwestern

dyk nope the kids have not gone canoeing without an adult
dyk Kayleigh isn't prepared to handle a canoe through the rapids on her own and be sure her brother is still in the boat, she's only gone canoeing once
dyk I figure when we all go together, it'll be Dh and Ian in one canoe, Kayleigh and I in the other
dyk if someone gets into trouble, you can't really just hop out while going through

dyk here it's low 70's now
dyk It was still mid 80's the first week of school
dyk the morning and evening are chilly
dyk no more sleeping with the windows wide open!
dyk I know it's always warmer down in MD than it is here when I go down in October
dyk sort of like a 2nd brief taste of summer LOL

dyk I don't blame you for wanting to stay home
dyk I feel badly for the wedding couple!
dyk what an awful thing to be predicted for your wedding day
dyk I'll be keeping you and your neighbors in my thoughts and hoping the storm won't be too severe and you'll all be safe
dyk We've had very few fullblown hurricanes here, the one I remember most is Gloria in 1985
dyk I was in Florida when Hurricane David hit in 1979
dyk So when Gloria came, I knew how to tape windows, etc.

DYK too funny about your camping souvenir ;-)
DYK my DH use to also go camping at Assateague during the summer, mostly August...one yr my girls asked about going
DYK once they realized there would be no A/C they were not so keen on the idea of summer beach camping?
DYK I've only been camping in the fall, never beach camping but I suspect even I would not like it during August either
Starting a New School Year
DYK I graduated from College Park, I lived on campus the first two yrs then commuted the last two & took a yr break when I worked PT & went to school PT
DYK my DH attended UMBC for a yr before transferring to music school in Boston; UMBC was, according to MIL, a big commuter school
