DYK Thread for
September

**For those uncertain to what a DYK thread is......**

DYK stands for Did You Know or Do You Know

It is simply a chit chat thread where every thought is written in sentences and each sentences starts with the initials DYK---it is fun, entertaining and a great way to meet the board members

Below are some fun DYK blinkies--feel free to snag any if you like:

DYK DH had a home inspector come look at our Palladian window to see if he could figure out where our water leak was coming from?

DYK it turns out there is a crack in one of the panes in the Palladian window? It is made up of 5 square panes....the one pane in the middle is the source of the leak

DYK the crack was big enough for the inspector to put his penknife through? It looks like it occurred when someone hammered nails on the trim around the base of the window? Inspector said it looks like someoned hammered nails in 3 times & mistakenly caused the crack in the window?

DYK when we first moved in there was a leak...the crack has probably been in the window from that day?

DYK we'll see how much it costs to fix & then decide if we'll try to talk to the builder?

I'm probably being too nosy, but is that something you & your co-workers do often--buy souvenirs for each other's kids? Plus, it seems quite costly to buy them boots...lol.

I heard they were evacuating east Texas TOWARDS San Antonio. Some Texas dummies are coming this way! We still have areas without power...stupid people.

nope...Allison was retired, and it was never even a hurricane, but it did loads of damage on our area and even more to Houston (picture the eye just between us & Houston....it kept rotating and the rain bands were over our area & Houston for 9 days!).

I think Alicia was retired too. That one did some damage to Texas, too.

We were just talking about that one Monday. I was teased, of course. Even though my name is pronounced differently.

you definitely take care!!

Is it going to make it up that high (to a 3 or 4) now? It sounds like it might be too close to land to intensify and it sounds like it's not very (I can't think of the word...they said it on the radio---not together, I guess).

We were getting gusts today. At the bus pick-up, it nearly knocked me down...and I was BETWEEN the buses and the building!

Scholastic goes up to 12th grade. It's the teacher's choice, and most teachers don't want to deal with it in middle/high.

No, they really don't. Last year, I had 180 students, and out of ALL the year's book orders, I might've had 15-20 students order even once.

you get bonus points that you can use to "purchase" books of your choice (teachers), and they also offer "free gifts" that might be pre-selected books or $10 to spend or something like that.

But it's a pain to do it--especially with LOTS of students, and the way our school does it is even worse. We have to collect the money (checks have to be written to the SCHOOL, not to Scholastic), receipt it in a record book, then we place the order, and the school cuts a check for Scholastic.
