it has never gotten water in it before & my new closet has water in it. Dh has worked so hard down there in the last 2 months I'm so up set right now I can't even cry. There is just so much stuff down there all ruined. I guess I know what today & the rest of the week is going to brong. Lots of cleaning & throwing out.

We didn't get that much rain so I just don't get it & it never flooded before when we did. I guess I shouldn't complain w/what other people are going thru w/all these storms.

I still have boxes to go thru from when mom passed away last January that got wet. Since we were working down there alot of things were on the floor & I would guess have gotten runined including xmas stuff under the stairs. I would suspect dh & I will be working down there all week & boxes of paperwork are ruined. I hope dh xrays & medical papers are ok.

Its a mess I didn't need since we were just coming to the end of redoing this house & its been 3 yrs. in the process of remodeling. I guess it could have been worse.

I know how you feel, went through 8 inches in my basement 4 years ago, it was horrible. We were away for a long weekend, & came home to that mess!

Good luck to you, I know it's a huge pain!

I'm so sorry to hear that, Dee.

We're in a no-flood zone, and have to fill out some paperwork for our ins co that states that we do not WANT flood ins (or go ahead and get it now). Mike said with so many climate changes, it might be worth it to get the flood ins.

You just never know...

Mike is right, you just never know & its best to have it. We've been here 3 yrs. & the basement never once has flooded who thought it would have now.

Dh is going to the insurance agent tomorrow morning to find out if they will cover it. I sure hope they do because lots of things have gotten ruined including new ceiling tile.

I'm sooooo sorry! Ours flooded and I remember what a PIA it was! Take a deep breath and then just keep plugging away at what needs to be done... Hope things start looking up soon...

Ugh, that's a bummer! I hope insurance covers everything. Are you sure it was just the rain--could it be a water main break or a sewer problem? If so, it might be covered.

The basement of our first house used to flood all the time, but we had a sump pump and everything was on these wooden pallets to keep them from being damaged. If you're in an area that you think might get a lot of flooding, you might want to invest in something like that.
