PG Movies and Tweens

My daughter Katlynn is 12 and going into 7th grade, this last year I have found that her frineds are watching many PG 13 movies, some are ok, but I would prefer to be asked first if she is at a friend's home. This past school year Kate was at a birthday sleepover and the parents kept calling to ask about things like a scavenger hunt etc, but then showed the girls Dodgeball and another movie I wasn't too pleased about. What is everyone's opinion on it? I have discussed sex with my daughter and don't think I am overly protective, I just prefer to preview/monitor movies she sees at this age.
Thanks, I am curious to see where everyone stands on this subject. :-)

I don't think my kids have even seen movies at other friends houses.
We preview PG-13 movies before the kids can watch them as a rule. We've OK'd some movies for DVD. Some movies literally have 1 scene that gives them the 13 rating and it's easy to skip it. Only once we saw a 13 in the theatre and that was an accident. I thought "Seabisquit" was PG. There was one scene that was objectional and I walked the kids outside for it but we came back for the rest and liked the movie as a whole.
I actually don't worry about the sex as long as it's not violent sex. Sex is in their future and positive portrayals of people in love aren't as damaging as viewing intense cruelty, twisted hatred and violence.
The exception we are making is I'm taking DD (10) to the midnight showing of the next Harry Potter movie. She's read all the books as have I. It'll be gritty but she knows the story inside and out.
I am pretty laid back when it comes to movies!

Was that movie "John Tucker Must Die"? My dd (and all her friends) loved that movie. The fact that he was sleeping with them really went over their head (and wasnt' something they even thought about, nor was it really viewed on screen). The kids saw him as a guy who was seeing/cheating on three girls at one time (and the girls got revenge).

I have three that are ages 13, 11,and 10.
Ramona Mom to 2 great kids and wife to one wonderful hubby since 1990!
After the MEAN GIRLS incident, we screen or watch them with them! If you remember, it was a great movie until the part where mom comes into the room to find her daughter in bed with the boyfriend. She just giggles and asks if they need "Drinks, snacks...a condom?" and walks out. To ME, this is totally innapropriate for the age group this movie was marketed to.
I really think the ratings system needs to add a pg-16 rating because MANY of the pg-13 movies are too adult (sexually) in nature for what these kids need to be exposed to.

Legally Blond was PG-13? Of course, I only saw it on cable (like USA or one of those channels), so it was edited.

Yes, it is PG-13. Here is a link which explains why it was rated PG-13 -
