Plans for Thanksgiving Week?
| Thu, 11-15-2012 - 11:29am |
What is everyone doing next week? Do your kids get the whole week off? Do you travel anywhere? Go Black Friday shopping?
My kids get all next week off. I don't think we have anything planned for Mon-Wed. For Thanksgiving, we are lucky that both mine and DH's parents live in the same town so we don't have to do any major traveling.
Dh and I go Black Friday shopping while the kids spend the night at my parents house. I look forward to it every year since it's one of the few times we get to go out shopping alone, LOL. However, I feel pretty unprepared this year- haven't looked at any of the ads yet!

We are going to family this year in Ohio. It's been quite a while since we have been so it will be nice. Kids don't get out until the Wednesday before so we will leave that morning. I usually go shopping but won't be this year. I did it once up in Michigan and it was enjoyable. My girls went for the first time last year and LOVED it so they were wanting to go again this year but no dice. I will miss the deals. *sigh* hard to see them and not be able to take advantage.
Zeph will have off school Thursday and a light day of school Friday of next week. We are going to my parent's for the day-the dog comes too! I am bringing traditional sausage dressing, some form of sweet potatoes, and a quinoa kale and bean dressing.
We'll be stopping at Target on the way home so I can run in and pick up DS's ITouch. If we get home earlier, just I will run out for it. Other than that my shopping will be completely done as of today. Friday we'll set up the tree and the rest of the decorations.
All of our family lives out of state, so I have to admit it, but Thanksgiving is more about football than anything at our house! LOL! We do a traditional turkey dinner of course, but DH is on call also, so it usually is disrupted at some point. We are "on call" for the moment waiting to find out about h/s football playoffs. If we win tomorrow evening, we advance to the next round and they can schedule the game any day, Thursday, Friday or Saturday next weekend and since we're not going to tomorrow night's game, we are going to next week's game.
DH and I have went black friday shopping once, and agreed never again. LOL! Jordyn and I usually will do some shopping on Saturday or Sunday. But I am almost done with shopping for this year, so I don't plan on doing much shopping at all. All though I am looking at the preview ad from Target's website and they have a 2 screen car DVD player. I may make DH go out and get that for me instead of the girls having to share the iPad on the long carride to Michigan over christmas. Hmm, that has me thinking...
A 2 screen DVD player was a lifesaver with all of the traveling we did when the girls were little.
We were going to take it on the last long trip we did before the kids got upgraded phones/iPods.
But it broke :(

I was about to say the same thing- those things are a lifesaver for long car trips!
