Prop. 8 how would you vote?

Here in Ca. we are voting on whether or not to allow same sex marriage. The proposition wants to keep marriage only between a man and woman. I really don't know how to vote. I have gay friends and a gay cousin. I am not a homophobe.
If we allow same sex marriage to be legal, how will it really affect the tax payers?
I'm not sure if other states are voting on this. There have already been same sex marriages in San Francisco. The only thing I don't agree with is last week a 1st grade class in SF took a field trip to a gay marriage ceremony! I wouldn't want it to be taught to my kids in school. Do you think a class would ever take a trip to a straight marriage ceremony?!
Thoughts appreciated.

that was very nice of that parent and for that yes i would have allowed my daughter to go. See what happens when we dont have that much information.... still parents had to agree to the field trip. no matter what. Well kudos to them. I hope that couple stays together for a long time.

Actually, a news report stated that 2 parents refused to allow their kids to go.

Thanks for posting the dictionary reference. I've been debating this a lot in my mind. I didn't realize gays already get the same benefits as domestic partners that married people do. I don't think it was right that the 4 judges in SF overturned the original Prop. 22 (I think that was the one) which already passed a few years back stating that marriage is only between a man and woman. I also don't want kids in public schools being told gay marriage is the same as heterosexual marriage.
Thanks everyone for the opinions.

After our convo the last few days--I was driving back from my ODD's volleyball game last night and there are picketors everywhere--some opposed to Prop 8 and some for it. Was kind of funny to see that after we had been having our discussion here.
