Well after reading your post of worries, now I'm the one that is worried! My DS (11) has been away traveling around visiting people so far all summer, and he gets back from Colorado on Saturday then goes to MA with his friend and his friends parents for 3 weeks. Yes, it's scary having to "trust" someone else to care for your children, and my DS has been an unaccompanied minor so far on all of his travels, that, I think is the hardest.

Next year he will be going to England also, to stay with my sister and my mother who live there - another unaccompanied minors trip - I'm scared. But, you're right. The nest is about to be empty in the near future - too close for my comfort I tell you that much. And, if I think of it rationally - any one of your "fears" could happen right here in our own neighbourhoods. They dont have to go trans atlantic for these things to happen to them.

Try to focus on the positive. Your child is living an experience that

Want me to pop down and check on her :-) it's only 2ish hours by train. As for the terrorist thing it's pretty quiet at the moment. Can't help you with leching or ropes though. She'll ahve a blast. Where are they going? What sights are they seeing?

Yes, do, but don't tell her I sent you! LOL She's only in London for a couple of days, then it's off to Birmingham, then up to Glasgow, then Edinburgh, a few stops in Wales, then off to Ireland, then back to England for a homestay in Andover. I know they have a codeword to tell their leaders if something about the homestay makes them uncomfortable, so I guess I shouldn't worry.

They are doing *everything* you can think of that tourists would do, as well as a few other things. They get to meet an MP on Friday. The castle wall thing is in Scotland, I believe.

In between bouts of total panic, I'm really envious!

Thank you for the prayers! I know this is a fantastic opportunity for her, but it's so hard to just let her go and accept that she is ready for it.

DH just called me from an airport in New Jersey (returning from a business trip) and told me that he had just met a People-to-People delegation returning from a trip to Italy and France. When he asked them how it was, one of the kids said, "It was okay, I guess, but they were really strict!" Both of us were *thrilled* to hear it!

That would set my mind at ease for sure!I think that is why Gab opted out of the 6th grade trip.I bet she is having fun though!
