QOTW: Do you think it is important to keep your tween-teen active? Whether it be through sports or just basic playing outside?

I think it's great for teens to have interests and activities outside of school, but I do believe many children of all ages are over scheduled!

QOTW: Do you think it is important to keep your tween-teen active? Whether it be through sports or just basic playing outside? Yes, kids who are busy stay out of trouble. Do you set limits on screen time(computer, games, tv) or do you just let your child self-regulate themselves? I let them self regulate, to a point. Both my kids can get over involved in TV shows or now my teen on the computer. Then I have to pull the plug.

Do you think tweens/teens these days are too overscheduled? Some yes. My kids LOVE doing stuff, I think they are a little crazy, but they both do well at school, are happy and so I let it go.

What are your thoughts about tweens/teens and the overweight issues that are facing our tweens/teens today? My dd has gone from a kid who was so skinny, whe wore dresses because pants would slide off, to now fighting her chunkines. She loves carbs and sweets. She has to learn to self regulate too, dh and I only bring snack foods in now in small lunch sizze portions, ie chips in the little bags you throw into the lunchbox, because she is the kid who will eat the whole bag. She is very active and that is helping her lose some weight.

I like to keep DD somewhat busy....like she's in dance school 2 nights per week (used to be 3, but it ended up being too much with middle school's homework), and she's in band.

I was never too concerned about it in the past, and DD was always so active.
