Where are u guys going? Are the girls excited to be going to the beach? It is nice that they have each other when you go on vacation.Gabby whines when she does not have a friend along now.She wants to be with her friends 24/7.I am glad she has friends but the constant txting and phone calls does get annoying some days.Everything we do seems to revolve around friends. Not that we plan it that way it just is.

Gabby actually needs some shoes to start school with. Most of the summer she wore flip flops,She may be able to wear them into Sept, but one never knows.I can not stand flip fliops if there is frost on the ground.Plus Gabby heard a rumor that they will nt be allowed to wear flip flops once school starts. They did have that rule last year but got rid of it,so who knows? She does have new sneakers, but she hates to wear them, unless it is for gym.She also has heels, but they are n t praticical for everyday wear.I did get her some tops and a few pair of jeans.Once school starts she will wear jeans to school ,no matter how hot it is because she hates bermudas, because she says they make her legs look fat. They can not wear the shorter shorts to school so jeans it will be.She does have a few cue sundresses with shrugs she can wear too.The school is airconditioned so she should be fine.

I d have to buy nschool supplies, but I hate buying all those binders and such,so I have been putting it off.

She wants a new backpack, but hers is only a year old and it is ll bean. She is talking about some type of tote.We shall see the backpack is like new.

She did need some white camis and tees because those get dingy looking after washing them a few times.Plus she has her sping clothes from ths spring.I also got her some new underwear so other than academic stuff she is all set.I will break dwn and get her the stuff before school starts

Ah, yes, the friend thing....several times Rach has said she wants to call Maria (one of her best friends). Usually when we're at a lacrosse tournament...uh the timing is bad, u need to be out on the field in 10 min not on the phone; last yr it was when we were in Phoenix (! due to the time difference it was always too late or dinner time back home).

Yes, the girls love the beach but this yr Rach is more excited about shopping ;-) in Rehobeth, DE. We usually go to Ocean City, MD which has good waves since its a barrier type coast...boogie boarding is one of their faves. DH has gone surfing,

In mid-August we will get a list from the middle school team that DS gets assigned to, and I'll buy whatever we need from that list. Will probably also take both kids shopping for new shoes before school. Other than that, I did a big shopping spree at Old Navy last month during a great sale, and I think that will probably do as far as clothing!

My kids think this is torture, but twice a year, I make them try on every single thing in their wardrobes, including socks and underwear. Then we throw out the really ratty stuff or the things you can't give away, and give the rest to charity or to people at church whose kids are smaller. This house does not have the closet space for huge wardrobes (those colonial era people didn't have half the clothes we have today!)

When it's convenient and necessary, we replace the stuff that they've gotten rid of, but this is not necessarily during the back to school shopping season. This year, however, even before the big try-on session, I know my son needs some pants and my daughter needs new sneakers, so we'll be out there in the crowds.

What makes this torture is that my kids hate trying on clothes and they're both very sentimental. "But I wanted to save that shirt for my grandson!" "That was an heirloom dress! You can't just give it away!" Sometimes I have to wait until the emotion dies down and then just quietly give the stuff away.

Well, yes for the most part, but not all in shot.

I buy all her uniforms in one shot, and usually her shoes...so that's a big chunk of change going to Academy.

Not through out (non-existent) PTA, but there were only a couple years that we had to buy supplies in elementary school.

Finally got James' uniform complete and all his supplies. Cost a cool £250 and this is a stae funded school!! I got a few things big in the hope that he'll get a few years out of the PE kit and blazers. They were the really expensive items.

I think I'll need t do uniform shopping for at least my DD this year. All her shirts are too small. I'll bleach/hand down James things to Kieran, replacing as I go.
