Sherina's only electronics are her TV (bigger than the one in my bedroom, mind you!), her radio/CD player that used to be mine, her
Kristen (14)- iPod nano and a Kodak digital camera
Becca (11) iPod nano and a Nintendo DS (the girls share this)
and they both have docking stations for the nanos.
They both have asked for cell phones.
I absolutely don't support kids of this age having the expensive electronics, and I discourage my kids from asking for things simply because of the name or the coolness factor. I personally think we are doing kids a disservice by giving them all these expensive things at this age, and we're creating a generation of consumer-ists (that's not a word is it??) who will expect more and more.
All that said, a neighbor traded his ipod touch with my son for some work he did for him, so he does have an Ipod touch. I, however, would not have bought one for him, that's simply too expensive for a 14 year old to have. His phone is the basic free one (and it's not technically "his", it is a family phone, but he uses it most).
My daughter has a plain MP3 and it fits her needs perfectly.
The only electronics we are buying this year is a docking station/alarm clock/speaker thing for the Ipod, but it isn't a fancy schmancy one. He didn't ask for it, we just thought it would be a nice thing for him to use in his room.
We're considering a portable DVD for the car, but I'm shocked at the prices, so that probably won't happen.
We're a pretty low electronic family I think, compared to many. No fancy phones, no fancy MP3's (that we bought!), no gaming systems, etc.
I learned most, not from those who taught me but from those who talked with me. - St. Augustine
Kurt hasn't told me what he wants for Christmas yet. He has a playstation 2 but he doesn't seem to want to upgrade (thankfully!)
I'm not against techie things, but I don't want him to have everything...who could afford that?!? lol
The only thing Abby has asked for so far this year is a DVD player for her room.
Our kids have DS's

My dd (14) is asking for (and will get) another small portable cd player (hers broke a while back and she likes to use it in the car).
Gillian hasn't asked for anything electronic this year, other than some new games for her Nintendo DS. I already have a lot of electronic stuff lying around (laptop, iPod, portable DVD player) that she can use when she likes, so she doesn't really need anything of her own.
I feel good about electronics in general, but I don't buy new ones just for the sake of having the latest thing -- most of what I own is at least two or three years old and still works fine, so I see no need to replace it. I would like a desktop computer for Gillian to use (we've had some conversations about why she can't take my laptop in her bedroom) but probably won't get one until she starts middle school.

Aly's asking for 4 games for her Wii (she's getting one from us), but no actual electronics.
She got an iPod this summer (that comes & goes), she has a Wii (that she never plays), and she has a Nintendo DS (that she plays all the time). Other than those things, she has a nice camera and that's it.
No cell phone.
Matthew's asking for a cell phone, but he's not getting one, LOL.
He has an iPod. They have a PS2 and a Wii and Nintendo DS's. The boys have asked for an X-box, but I'm not sure if we're going to do it or not. Seems they have enough electronics. They'll be getting games.
I'm not against electronics, and they're gifts that don't clutter, but they are expensive. They share a TV in the playloft upstairs that has all their game equipment hooked up to it, and it does keep them out of my hair at times, but I am not one to put TVs in their individual rooms or get them laptop computers before high school. I certainly don't think they have to have everything their friends have, and they are far from deprived! ;)
