Gas prices are at or near $4 per gallon-----how is this or will this affect your tween/teens life?

Not much will change. If it makes sense to walk we will walk, but we have always been that way.I don't see strting up a car to drive Gabby two or three blocks to a frinds house when it takes leass than 5 mins to walk there. However,if it is pouring rain,I'd still drive her.
We do ry and combine trips so I'm not going out several times a day or week.
For example Gabby has dance tonight and instead of comong all the way home,I'll do my shopping errands since they are close to her dance school.I used to do them during the day,bu I won't make two trips a day to the stores I'll just wait until this evening when she is at dance.
I wold not make Gab give up an activities,we do walk a lot around town, but we have sidewalks and it makes sense to do it,plus exercise is healthy. It is just silly to drive a block or two to get a paper or go to a friends house.

My son will be walking or riding his bike to school. Right now he does not have after school activities because he is struggling in school not wanting to do his work so it won't affect him that much. We have three parks around us in walking distance and a large backyard so he is set there.

Yes, she may be affected.

Hmmm, well my tween doesn't exist in a vacuum of his own, so just by virtue of the fact that we as a family are more cognizant of travel costs, their lives have and will change somewhat. I am much more aware of conserving gas, and much less likely to "run into town" on a whim, so that falls to reason that it will affect both of them in small ways.
We live in an area that is rural, so there is no option of walking or biking, friends and activities must be driven to. So scheduled things will still happen, but I definitely try to pile things into one day, try to carpool with others, try to minimize wasted trips, etc.
Will their lives change dramatically? No, and I wouldn't stop activities because of gas unless it was a FAR distance and therefore exorbitantly priced. Soccer is probably our biggest pita because the games are 30 minutes away, but those are limited and we only have about 4 or 6 left. Practices are local and much easier to justify. We don't commute to school or work, and I try to consolidate as much as I can, doing my shopping in conjunction with dropping a kid at a friend's home or whatever.
All in all, I'd say that yes we are changing our habits but that it won't negatively affect the kids significantly. I think it's good for them to become more aware and conservative anyway.
I don't think it will change anything in our home.
