She likes your basic top 40 stuff. Nothing too out there and nothing that I have a problem with. I detest artists like 50 Cent and those rappers who seem to think that money and hos are all that's important and really treat women badly, but thankfully she also thinks they are dumb. Girls seem less attracted to those guys than boys. I'm not "thrilled" that she likes the PussyCat Dolls but we have discussions about how they dress and present themselves but if she likes the music that's okay.
I like pretty much the same stuff she does. I also love big band, swing
Mackenzie too is probably more into the top 40s bubble gum pop but we all listen to the same music. We like classic rock, country, country rock, 80's music...we even have some Johnny Cash and James Brown! I don't really prohibit any music based on genre, its' more on lyrics and intent. Even my son kind of agrees on this..though he'll occasionally blast something that has bad words but he quickly turns it down out of respect for me being there. No putting down women or drug talking in my house! Funny thing is that my son will get music from friends, we like it and he passes it on to us. Dad downloads a lot and my son burns CD's for himself. So we truly are integrated in our music!
Lauren isn't that into music, and when she does listen it's usually Disney-style pop bands like Aly & AJ, the Jonas Brothers, High School Musical, Ashley Tisdale, etc. She also enjoys listening to my husband's and my extensive classic rock collection of things like Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, and the Beatles.
Lauren also listens things like the Pussycat Dolls and Avril Lavigne on occasion, which I'm definately not a fan of, but most of the stuff seems to fly over her head. I just don't allow any words worse than d**n or we get a radio edit, and anything with demeaning or explicitly sexual lyrics, I don't allow either. Luckily, music just isn't a big struggle at out house.
My dd likes 50,s & 60's music, knows words to all the songs. Country & some of the disney Pop Stars, like Hillary Duff, Hannah Montana & the High School Musical Cd & the girl who sang in that. Dee
My daughter mostly listens to bubble gum pop, which I tolorate. In the car she has been known to stop the scan button on jazz and classical in addition to the bubble gum music and top 40.
My 14yo DD likes heavy metal, techno, hard-rock, jRock, jMetal, jPop(j is for Japanese), punk, Industrial, and stuff by Rick Astley. Some of her favorites are "Cradle of Filth", "Daft Punk", "Saliva", "Gackt", "Dir en Grey", "KinKi Kids", "Rammstein" and "KMFDM".
My 12yo DS likes rap classic rock and heavy metal. Bands he likes include "Eminem", "ACDC", and "Slipknot" (My DD and I also like this band).
I'm a big "Metallica" fan. I also, really like "Godsmack", "Disturbed", "Rob Zombie", "Megadeth", "Anthrax", "Breaking Benjamin", "Green Day", "The Ramones", and other groups like this. So. No. I have absolutely no problem with what my kids listen to.

My son, 13, is into Christian music. Rock mostly though some worship stuff as well. I have no problems with what he listens to.
Personally I don't listen to music.

We all listen to Country music here, though ds is in a goofy stage of finding weird songs for his mp3, like Weird Al or whatever.
