Hannah doesn't like rap but she does like this group, My chemical romance. I tell her she can't download music that has inappropriate stuff on it. She also likes this group usage. Hum? Maybe that's not the name. She likes Evanescence too.

I listen to top 40 or christian radio. I can't handle the rap stuff either. :)

Hannah is all over with her music tastes....I asked her recently who who favorite groups/singers are and this is what she said: Fergie, Carrie Underwood, Beyonce and Kelly Clarkson.

Her most recent iTunes downloads were My Chemical Romance, Sean Kingston, Taylor Swift, Petula Clark (Downtown--it was on Lost!) and Hannah Montana!!! She also bought the Hairspray soundtrack without having even seen the movie.

She knows to download the "clean" versions of songs (if there are 2 versions) and she always asks me first if she can download it. I generally like most of the songs she does. Thanks goodness she doesnt' like rap all that much and she does appreciate some of the older stuff that I like! (just discovered Bohemian Rhapsody!!) She plays a lot of classical (Mozart and others) music on the piano so every once in awhile she will find the songs and put them on her iPod.

She does have a couple songs on her iPod that I told her that it probably would not be a good idea to play them in front of Dad!! He is a little more protective of her in that way, I think.

Meredith likes lots of different kinds of music.
But, she pretty actively dismisses bubblegum pop and the things that most kids are really into. She wants nothing to do with Brittany Spears, Hilary Duff and the rest. We don't do American Idol, etc.

Because we are musicians, alot of the music in our house is not recorded - it's live. She plays piano and cello and sings. I am a music teacher, pianist and woodwind player. Daddy plays brass. I do alot of arranging for us to be able to play together, and church is often an outlet for that playing so we will do a lot of religious music. I will often hear her walking through the house singing various classical themes. I'm not sure she always even knows where that tune came from, it's just in her head.

She and I do a lot of singing together - and she really enjoys tight harmony. She helped out by singing a part in my acapella quartet for the first time this year and really held her own. She was pretty proud to be allowed and asked I think. Her voice is really getting strong now - so it's fun for me to sing with her and not have to hold back at all.

Daddy will tend to listen to classic rock - so she's been exposed to that and has favorites from groups like Billy Joel, Styx and more.

Right now she is really into the "Celtic Woman" group - especially Chloe. Wonderful singers - you'll hear them on PBS specials, movie soundtracks - but they are not exactly mainstream, I guess.

She enjoys the more bluegrassy tracks on the Yo Yo Ma Cd's or Turtle Island string quartet.

So many things really....I'll probably have the oddest eccletic mix on the thread.

But not pop or rap for the most part!

AJ listens to alot of classic rock, AC/DC and Ozzy being 2 of his favorites. He has 'Welcome To The Jungle' by Guns 'N Roses as the ringtone on his cell phone right now. For what's out there these days, we feel lucky that he is listening to the stuff that we grew up on!

We like classic rock, and also listen to alot of country like Gretchen Wilson, Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, etc. We all love Johnny Cash! Willie Nelson is also one of my faves.
