A no touching rule, while may sound good, is almost impossible. I understand the reasoning behind it....we don't want kids getting hurt, being touched by those they don't want touched by, keeping PDA down, it's all great, but hard to enforce. What happens if someone falls, you can't help them up. Someone is in tears over something and you can't physically comfort them.
I dunno. I understand it, but don't think it is practicle.
It can be incredibly intimidating for students to be around those in gangs (or wannabe gang members) who are throwing their gang affiliation around in the form of handshakes (and the like) and if there are competing gangs at the school there can be serious trouble when that goes on (fights).

Our middle school has a "no touch" policy.
After I read the article more slowly, I can see the reason why that school in the article instated a "no handshakeing"
It's the same rule in our Middle/High school.
I admit to being ignorant to gang related issues....but does banning the gang handshake stop the gang problems?
