Do you allow your tween/teen to wear whatever they want to school or do you let them wear whatever as long as it meets school dress code requirements? Is there anything in particular you would NOT let them wear out?

Moms of girls---what about if your child wanted to wear a thong?

I only have boys...

My oldest (12 in May) is totally into sports attire. He will wear anything Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers. He loves wearing wind-pants and hoodies. When he wears jeans, they fit. He does wear boxers, but they never show. He likes the "brands" too...Abercrombie, American Eagle, Hollister, etc. I still pick his stuff out, so it all meets my approval. I don't allow anything that looks "ghetto" (his word, not mine!) He asked me recently if he could "go skater". He does have some Tony Hawk shirts, but that's about it. He doesn't know how to ride a skateboard and the style just doesn't fit his personality. He has a few friends who are skaters, and that's fine. But I am encouraging him to be his own person. He is more "clean cut".

My youngest, (8 in May) wears whatever I buy. His clothes all fit him properly. He still likes characters on his clothing (yay for me!!!).

My oldest is 10 and he doesn't like baggy pants. AND even if he did, he wouldn't be allowed to wear them low with his undies showing. My rules are that school clothes must be clean with no rips, holes, tears or stains. I wish our school had uniforms.

I have a friend who doesn't allow her children to wear the color black. Whatever! My motto is, "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff".

My kids wear uniforms to school thank God!

My 10yo dd - no midriff, no writing on the rear, no thongs, etc. She's a pretty modest girl anyway. We just bought some new clothes this weekend - she bought soft capris that are like lightweight sweats, t shirts and a few skirts with the shorts in them. Problem with shorts is that she fits in a 7/8 for her waist and hips but then the shorts get too short. We need to find some khaki shorts for spring uniform that will pass the length requirement without drowning her.

My 13yo ds is a creature of comfort. When not in his uniform he prefers those nylon pants and soft t-shirts. He's so not into fashion I need to choose his clothes before a dance or event so he at least looks like he didn't roll out of bed and wearing mismatched clothes.

EMily is so darn tall and leggy so most of her shorts and such are short--not butt hanging out short, but they are short and those she is most comfortable with!

She dosen't wear belly shirts, those are out here.

Mini-skirts, yes and when she is going to school she wears boy shorts under them to make me happy, LOL!

She started wearing thongs this year!

We have uniforms from approved vendors. I LOVE uniforms. And it is the public school, but it's the norm around here for public schools to have uniforms. For Aly, it's khaki bottoms and white or navy tops.

And I know the uniform guidelines by heart since I've had to address it with 6th grade at least 3 times this year!

Thongs, absolutely not.

Mini-skirts--well, Aly has a couple that could qualify, BUT they all have built-in shorts--her choice and mine. How mini are you talking? Hers go as short as 6 inches above the knee, but don't show anything inappropriate (butt cheeks, etc).

Do you allow your tween/teen to wear whatever they want to school or do you let them wear whatever as long as it meets school dress code requirements? Is there anything in particular you would NOT let them wear out? -My DD has to wear a uniform to school. They have their own dress code so she's used to following it. I don't have to restrict anything when it comes to school clothes.

Moms of girls---what about if your child wanted to wear a thong? Mini-skirts?-NO thongs no way. She actually was just given a mini skirt as a gift and I said it had to go back but with the new style that they wear those footless tights with it we came to an agreement.

Moms of boys---baggy jeans where their underwear hang out?- I don't have aboy but I hate that.

What are your thoughts on dress codes for your child when going to school? -I love that she has a uniform it makes things so much easier.

Do you allow your tween/teen to wear whatever they want to school or do you let them wear whatever as long as it meets school dress code requirements? It has to meet school dress code requirements. She wears the layered look. She's always dressed appropriately. Is there anything in particular you would NOT let them wear out? Nope

Moms of girls---what about if your child wanted to wear a thong? No thong, too young Mini-skirts? Nope, only with leggings or tights. Although she hasn't asked if she could wear this stuff yet.

What are your thoughts on dress codes for your child when going to school? She needs to wear clothing that is appropriate. No short skirts, shorts, low cut tops. It just sets the tone in the classroom. Boys do not concentrate when girls are dressed like this. I know, I work in the classrooms.
