We have always done the bath/shower daily, that was never a question (it is now shower only thanks to some feminine issues that she was having from sitting in the soapy water). Same with brushing teeth--thankfully she has never given me a problem with that, including with the new braces.

Deodorant started about 3 years ago. I'd noticed a smell under her arms anytime she'd eat good Cajun food--an onion smell. So, it wasn't necessarily a body odor as in puberty, but more what she was eating was coming out through her sweat. Sometimes, it would smell worse after her shower than before (if we had jambalaya for supper or something). So, we just started out with every now & then on deodorant, then we moved to every day probably about 2 years ago.

I just told her about the methods and showed her and for the most part, she takes care of almost everything on her own with some reminders from me. She usually just goes with it, but if it's something she doesn't like to do (showers--she rathers baths, or washing her face with Clean & Clear), it sometimes takes more reminders than others.

*Shampoo--either L'Oreal Swim & Sport when she swims, or, right now, Pantene shampoo & Fructis conditioner--my stuff (have to finish the shampoo before we start Fructis shampoo) because Suave is no longer treating her well.
*face wash---Clean & Clear
*body wash--Dove
How often do they shower and wash their face? Daily

*Deodorant--Avon Light & Lush (citrus scent)
Do they wear deodorant daily? Yes

*perfume/cologne--- none
or body spray
Do they wear this daily? nope

*toothpaste---- Aqua Fresh
How many times do they do this daily? Usually twice.

Wow, lots of questions.

So....when did you first start noticing you needed to encourage your child to shower daily, around 10.5 - 11. If its winter and she hasn't been running around I don't make her shower daily but when she's hot and sweaty she does. brush their teeth, I'm always nagging

Rach can pretty much take a shower every other day but this past yr has been wearing deodorant. I noticed last fall after her bball games she smelled a bit but I suspect that is the onset of puberty as she now has to wear a bra for clingy shirts too. I didn't want to have her using an antiperspirant/deodorant w/all the chemicals since she & her sis have sensitive skin so ended up mail ordering some type of natural stuff vs. commercial product. She enjoys using American Girl skin/bath products so no issues but occasionally have to remind her to floss as its more difficult now she has braces.

So, you've found the American Girl products to be good even with the sensitive skin? Aly wants to buy some of that stuff, but I warned her against it since she has issues. Of course, more than just sensitive skin, she also gets feminine itching, too, so that might be another issue.

Alysha, AG stuff appears to be ok for my girls. I know Jamie (ydd) was allergic to bubble bath when she was younger; she has more sensitive skin & more rash prone but the AG stuff seems to be fine for her. I'd try some when its on sale for Alyson first just to be sure.

Well, hygiene is a big nag fest in our house. Abigail needs to shower daily (hair gets greasy), needs deodorant (and has since 3rd grade), and her legs look like pipe cleaners half the time. She's good about teeth brushing and deodorant, but I'm constantly having to remind her to shave and shower.

She hates all the hair removal products because of the smell, so a razor is it.

She doesn't wear perfume, but I have started letting her wear a little lip gloss to school as long as her hair and face are clean.

Kayleigh needed early reminders due to ADHD but she started going through the grunge stage
