QOTW:As we all are aware, or becoming aware, that at the 10-14 stage proper hygiene becomes an issue!

So....when did you first start noticing you needed to encourage your child to shower daily, brush their teeth, wear deodorant, etc...

I encourage it very early. I am big on proper hygiene. The minute I can smell them its all about deoderant! Funny because out of the 3 big girls Vanessa (10) is the stinkiest one.

How are you or did you teach them proper hygiene methods?

I started noticing a problem when Connor was about ten years old. We just had to get on him about things and remind him of proper hygiene. By 13 he had it down, he showers daily without reminders, deoderant is not forgotten and teeth brushing isn't an issue (Which is good considering he has braces). The only issue I do have is that I occasionally have to remind him to shave. (He needs to shave daily now).

Does Proactive really work?

With both boys I've noticed it around 11yo...shower, deod.

Brushing teeth, braces or not, is always an issue!

Well my 16 yr old son STILL won't brush his teeth or hair without being nagged and my 13 yr old daughter drains my hot water tank three times a day! My son was given some AXE soap and deoderant, probably in 5-6th grade. I told him if he didn't smell like those items that I'd get in the shower with him and show him how to use em! As for my daughter, she's been into all those smelly, goopy, sparkly things since she was young so realistically she's never been a problem!

We used Proactive and it does work but is pricey!

I saw that stuff at Walgreens yesterday and I *almost* bought it...I'm glad I didn't!
