my daughter gets to watch certain shows. But since there is nothing worth watching on tv right now we do not watch it. We do not have cable or a dish. All we have is just regular tv. We are not home enough to watch tv. We do however tend to watch the public television which has several travel, animal intrests, nature and history shows. Other than that its a treat to be able to go to grandma's and watch cartoons and things like that. I have always been very picky with the tv. I am extremly picky with the movies she watches also. As for online she hardly gets the time but she is supervised for right now.

I don't have hard and fast rules at the moment except that no TV, computer or video games until homework is done each day.

No real rules, just basic guidelines for us.

We don't specifically limit time (unless it's as a punishment), we usually do not have television on until after dinner - and it's usually something we all watch together. Our kids have game gears and other gaming systems but they honestly collect dust - if we're on a trip they use them, but that's about it.

I don't really have limits. I used to but now, we are so busy with sports and other extra curricular activities they don't get to watch TV for long stretches anyway. They probably average about 1.5 hours a day. 30 mins after homework and chores are done and before sports practices.

I don't have any specific rules. Sometimes she is on the computer more, sometimes less. Sometimes our TV is on for background noise sometimes not. As long as her homework is done and she's not choosing TV or computer over playing with friends or doing activities, I don't worry about it. Here it will soon be dark at 5:00 and too cold to play outside much in winter, so she is on the computer alot more then than in summer. We have no video games so that's not part of the equation for us. She has lost computer privileges for various infractions, but nothing lately.

Yes, we do have limits of screen time, not necessarily a set amount each day but I don't allow excessive t.v. and computer, and the kids can't go from t.v. to computer or

My daughter has so little time for TV, it just hasn't been an issue.

What made you decide to not allow video games(and those types of systems) in your home with your kids?

Eliminating the obvious reasons of violence and such(that was my thesis for my com class I am currently taking---I wrote a paper on Television Marketing of Violent Video Games and today's youth)
