Yes, I am a big believer in camp, my kids have gone since they were old enough to (Kayleigh was 4, Ian was 6).

My older one likes the summer day camp at a private school cuz a few of her friends from school go there too...younger one not so much since not as many of her friends go there. Both of them are doing a few sports camps also. Both doing lacrosse camps; the older one a sleepover one in mid June plus a basketball camp w/one of her friends. My younger one is doing a soccer camp as well as lacrosse camp w/girls from her teams there so she can hang w/the kids she knows.

Also taking some days off since there are wks my girls are not in camps. My older one is playing on a club lacrosse team & we are going out of town for tournaments to NJ & DE so there aren't in camp those weeks. Then camps stop about 2 wks before public school starts so we'll probably take some vacation during that time such as going to the beach or amusement parks or even to SF area, we'll see.

Personally, I think camps are wonderful and so do my kids. We typically sign the kids up for 2 or 3 weeks of camps sprinkled out within the 10 or 11 weeks they have off. This summer DD is only doing 1 camp in August however she is in a show which will have her busy 4 or 5 days a week through most of July. She is going on a 4 day trip with her Girl Scout troop across the state end of that month. She's also wanting to take private violin lessons for the summer. She'll have plenty of time to laze around as well as have time to focus on activities she really loves to do.

Dd will be going to computer camp, 2 1/2 hrs. a day for 1 week, then drama camp, 2 weeks, she also takes private flute lessons. Month of August she will just be home. She would be bored silly w/out camp, all the kids around here go to the camp because its offered for free. A certain famous author who lives here has made that possible for all kids thru grades 3-6.

Dd used to be in daycare or summer camp each summer, but now she feels she is too old for that.
