They will keep reading if/when they want to which is the way we go all year round. They are avid readers and most of the time they have their noses stuck in a book, and we will continue our weekly library treks.
I'm pretty fortunate. my DD loves to read, so it's never a challenge to make her do it. Every time we go to the store, she wants a new book. My only challenge is making sure she's picking books that are appropriate for her age. She tends to go a little 'older' than I'd like (she's 10, and always tries to pick books for high school age kids). I've found some good recommendations online, and some 'series' books that I trust, so try to buy her books that I approve of before she runs out and wants to pick her own.
I don't require my dd or ds (age 12, twins) to read during summer. My dd is a voracious reader so she will be reading a lot because she really loves to read! My son doesn't love reading, but when he finds a book that is interesting he really gets into it and can't put it down. So I usually mention to him books that I think are interesting (taken from the mandatory summer reading list at the high school) and leave it up to him as to whether he wants to look for the book at the library and read it. Last year he did read one book and thoroughly enjoyed it.
So, long story short, but no, I don't require reading.
My kids usually have to read 3 books over the summer for school. My son dislikes reading and has reading issues, so he really needs a break. My dd will read at night.
It baffles me, I'm a bookworm. I'm always reading a book and usually have a pile of books to read.
I don't require it. Both kids usually read on their own. Nathan reads all the time. Hannah put together a list of books she wanted to read this summer so I'm sure she'll begin that soon.

I don't require it, Aly just reads--especially in the summer. We have so many of our own books and she utilizes the libraries very well.
She participates in the library's summer reading program. The kick-off is Wednesday.
She's not required to do any summer reading for school, though.

I don't need to make Kayleigh read, she does that on her own for enjoyment.
