Mine don't swear, at least not in front of me, I'd actually be shocked if they did it anywhere.

She does not swear in front of me. She has let the occassional word slip but she really tries hard not to. I also try not to swear in front of her. The occassional time it slips out but I really try not to. I just don't think its necessary most of the time. I still have trouble swearing in front of my parents and I'm 43. LOL It just seems wrong. The only time I've heard her swear really is if she's singing along to lyrics that have a swear word, she will use it and I don't have a problem with that. Its the every other word as a swear word that I have trouble with.

Well, there are the usual swear words. I don't get put off by things like sucks, as in "Math sucks" however I don't allow that kind of language when talking about another person. Your teacher does not suck, that is inappropriate, but math can. I can't really think of anything else. Shut up I suppose but no one in our family ever uses that in a mean sense. Sometimes if we are joking around and teasing we might say it, but never with anger. So it rarely comes up. Maybe if someone posts some

She just said stupid in front of me for the first time within the past year!

She used to get so upset when she'd hear that word, and I use it all the time.

So, no, she hasn't in front of me. She's aware of some bad (really bad, not just stupid or shut up) words because Mike will sometimes let her watch some PG-13 movies and I want to make sure she realizes there are words that can't be repeated.

Once when Mitch was about 8 he was playing basketball with some "older" boys, and I caught him swearing... I marched him home and washed his mouth out with soap before putting him in time-out! (Put a drop of dish soap on his tongue.) He was so ashamed because his grandparents were visiting... Now that he is 11, he does not swear in front of us, and in fact he gets very upset if I swear in front of him. Which I try very hard not to do, but occasionally it happens.

I try to strongly discourage words like "sucks" and even "crap," mainly because of my 7-year-old; I hate hearing those kinds of words come out of a little kid's mouth... Also, I was never allowed to say those words growing up, and I would hate for my kids to say them in front of their grandparents. That's sort of my gauge. If it is something you would be embarrassed to say in front of Grandma, don't say it.

My 16 yr old drops 'crap' pretty frequntly but my 13 year old still has that look of "I shouldn't say this but..." when she says it. I'll occasionally get a 'flipping' or 'freaking' but that's about it. Dad and I will drop some bombs on occasion but they're pretty good at not saying them around us!

Alex and Rachel never swear in front of me and I highly doubt they do it when I am not around . We had a funny incident when Rachel was about 5 and could only say about 5 words (Rachel has autism). One of her therapists muttered "da*n it " and Rachel picked up on it. For several months afterward Rachel would say it quite often, always in the proper context. We were desperately trying to get her to talk and then had to convince her not to use those words. Needless to say she found it very confusing!

I rarely hear kids swearing also.

My kids do not, and can not swear in front of me. I know they do because their friends tell me. I tell them I would kill hem if an adult tells me they have been swearing.

Dh and I have very bad gutter mouths. I try not to but it just comes out. I do not use the "f" word unless I am really mad. My choice words are Damn, A**, Sh**.

I do not like to hear young people swearing it sounds trashy!

I will have them write an essay if I hear anything. I also don't consider it bad language if the word is in the bible.

My kids do not swear in front of me, though of course an occasional word has made its way into conversation and we've had to talk about it.

I'm pretty strict with words,
