QOTW--Is your 10-14 yr old friends with kids their same age(or grade), or do they tend to gravitate toward younger or older kids?

I'd say 95% of her friends are in her Grade. She has a couple of girls on our street who are a couple of years younger she hangs out with when playing outside simply because the boys who are her age kind of gravitate together.

Connor is 13 and his friends range in age from 12-15. I am not friends with the parents. Friendly, but not friends.

Tylor usually hangs out with kids his age...every once in awhile there is one or two that are older or younger but not by much...although, I did just find out that he was hanging out with a 17 year old and that's just not ok to me (or the kids mom).

most of Jackies friends are around her age. They go to the same school, or at least use to. We have a couple of friends that we keep in touch with but they are not in the same school. I am friends with their parents also. I prefer it to be that way.... but its not as if we "hang" out all the time. We might spend a couple of hours with them every once in a while. Not all that often.

My kids have friends that are older and younger than them. Alex's best friend is a nine yo. he used to ride the school bus with. There are no children who live nearby us, we are surrounded by seniors, so the kids mostly play with other kids through

My girls play with kids mostly their own age. They play a lot togther and have some of the same friends since there is only 13 months between them. We don't have neighbors so neighborhood friends are not in the picture. They are very involved in activites at school and outside of school. Since they go to school in a very small town most of the kids are in the same activites. I have gotten to know some of the parents. Two different ones have been nice to have to take the girls places together since my husband works all the time. They are also SAHM and help me out when I have to be at work and something is going on. They'll take my girls from practice to their Dad's work if it's raining and they can't walk (Big help).

Being in a small town and not having grown up with the other parents made getting to know them a little harder. Some of them still look at us as outsiders after being here 11 years.

My girls have a couple of younger cousins who they play very well with. Same goes for my oldest who is 17 she has always done great with the smaller ones.

Both kids' friends are their age. They both have a few friends that are older.

Most of the neighborhood kids are younger (WAY younger) but they both play with them outside.

Having been at the same school for 8 years (K-8) I know the parents of Hannah's friends extremely well. Some I consider good friends and others, not so much. Same with Nathan's friends, but unfortunately, I really don't like his best friends mom.

My 10 yo DS mostly hangs out with boys his age, but does have a couple of friends a year older and one a year younger. I am friends with a couple of the parents, but not all. The one thing they all have in common is that they're wild kids and DS is just the opposite! Consequently, I don't have his friends over as much as I should.

My almost-12 yo DD has a surprising number of adult friends (not creepy pedophile types, just normal mentor-types), as well as friends her age. Her best friend is this really quirky girl whom I just adore. Her mom is a real salt-of-the-earth type who has become my friend in the past two years. I'm friends with some of her other friends' parents as well.

Both kids play with the neighborhood children, who are all younger.
