The question of "Is Santa real" has never really been an issue at our house.

We believe the concept of santa but not really santa..... its the magic that he brings with the holidays, being with friends and family. He brings a spirit of love and helpful thoughts into our house. The magic that makes everyone remember why we are all together. thats what we celebrate.

I do not know if she still "believes" thats a hard question. My mom tells her is she quits believing he quits comming. However a bag of rocks is her favorite gift. LOL
So he brings toys... they are all unwrapped except when there is an item that she wanted and it got bought at the last minute. it gets wrapped and put under the tree with no name and a wrapping paper that is like no other...

As for stockings yes he fills that stocking with all sorts of things. from candy to cd to books to toothbrushes..... whatever fits and needs a place......LOL

We definately do Santa here!! We are a church going Christian family but we do NOT believe that you have to chose one or the other (Christ or Santa). Obviously Christ's birth and celebrating him is the Reason for the Season, but to me and my family Santa is the symbolism of Unselfish Giving, plus it is just good clean FUN! Our society rushes children to grow up quickly in every way and I belive that Christmas is also about the joy of Childhood.

My oldest doesn't believe and I don't think my youngest does, but not sure he is convinced. We don't talk about it, we just go on with Santa. It doesn't matter to me-regardless if they figure it out and when, Santa tradition will not change in our house. You still get your biggest and best presents and stocking from Santa, you still have to be good-LOL, and you still have to go to bed on Christmas Eve so Santa can come. This will last until they are fully grown adults, married or away from our house. It will happen in college as it did at my parents house and I loved it!

Santa does not wrap at our house. The stockings are filled and the presents are laid out with each boy having their own area. Who ever wakes up first comes and gets me (Dh usually gets right up too depending on how long we have slept!). They do not wake the other children, but are free to go ahead and get into their loot!

Parents do not get gift or stocking stuffers from Santa.

Never really been a big Santa family here. We played "santa" when the kids were small but we never told them they had to be good to receive gifts from him. I once went to a charity event for the marines who were collecting toys for tots. One marine told a story of a family who had a car accident right around the holidays, and the father died. The mother had no money for xmas and had to wait for a couple of months for all the paperwork to clear to have access to certain accounts and such. Anyway, her little ones were crying and asking what they had done wrong because Santa didn't bring them gifts. That story ALWAYS stuck in my head so I made sure not to really put a lot of focus on the fantasy Santa. I also read the true story of the real santa each year to my boys. In our house christmas is a time to remember the birth of Christ, to be in the spirit of kindness, thoughtfulness and giving. It's a time to think of others and to help others, just as we're told Christ did. The gift giving is to symbolize the gift of Christ as well. As the years go by and we incorporate other traditions and celebrations, other beliefs and see the Christmas items coming out before Halloween (lol!), we still try and remember the true reason for the season.
