In my parents household, if you don't believe in Santa, then you don't get any presents from Santa. I have my own household now, but we still go to my parents Christmas Eve and play cards into the night... when we wake up in the morning, the presents have magically appeared under the tree from Santa's delivery. Cheesy, I know, but no one would ever tell me the truth as a kid. If you don't believe in Santa, then he won't bring you presents, was the only thing I was ever told growing up. So, as an adult, I wake up at the crack of dawn with my own child at my parents for Santa's magical delivery (and my own.)

When my daughter stopped believing, she did not want to tell me.

My parents never raised us to believe in Santa, and we were all happy as children, we made a list of what we wanted and gave it to my father. I had the same tradition with my kids. I think it pure nonsense to tell a child a fat jolly old man climbs down the chimney every Christmas and magically bring him gifts, then when he gets older you have to tell him, Santa does not really exist or some wise child might tell him before you do. My husband and myself work hard all year long to save up money to buy our children the presents they choose. I will in no way give up that right to some fat, jolly old bearded clown who does not exist. The children appreciate their presents more because they know how hard their parents worked in order to buy them those presents and they are not fooled into thinking that some fool dropped down the chimney and placed the presents under the tree. They know that Santa belongs to the fairy tale books.
