I'm not so sure that's true! We homeschool and I swear I go through at least that many pencils per year! There is some sort of time-space continuum when it comes to both paper AND pencils. One day I can go to bed and there are tons of pencils, wake up and they are all gone. I'm only slightly kidding too, it's really weird, I have NO idea where pencils go, but they just poof, disappear. That phenomenon can only be compounded by larger groups of kids!!

It's like socks. Somewhere there are socks and pencils floating around space.

I have that problem with socks but not pencils. Probably because my kids prefer mechanical pencils so we just restock lead all year. I bought 4 packs of 12 pencils last year and I am STILL using them.

I just bought each child 12 pairs of socks each at the top of the summer. I have to go buy more this weekend because I keep seeing the same 5-6 pair in the wash.

I have noticed the trend lately is for hand sanitizer...ok, why does the teacher ask for hand sanitizer when there are sinks in

Here in my district the fees for K-8 are $100 per child. If you meet the requirements for reduces or free lunches then you most likely meet the requirements for reduced or free registration. It depends on your family size and income.
This year I did not pay the full $200 up front. I had other things to do with my money. As long as it is paid off by the end of the year, they don't really care. If come June I still haven't paid it, they will send the matter to a collection agency. I have no idea what happens then, I've always paid it off in a timely manner.

Sports, yearbook, band, etc. etc. is all extra. Student Council and Key Club charge 'dues' of $5 a year.

I send in kleenex happily, and around Christmas time I try to ask the teachers if they need anything such as kleenex, extra markers, etc. etc. because I don't think they should have to spend the $ on them. One or two boxes maybe, but a whole years worth, no.

Bottom line for me is that while my kids are in public school, I still expect their education to cost me something. I want the best oppourtunities for them and am willing to pay for as much of it as I can. High school will get expensive with activity cards, drivers ed, science labs, and on and on.....but worth it if it helps them reach their full potential.

I remember in Kindy they had a sink but the kids made SUCH a mess with the water and soap. The were only allowed to use the sink after using the restroom or messy snacks and crafts. Everything else ( germy hands etc) they had to use the hand sanitizer.

No kidding.
Kurt's list said:
50 blue pens
50 black pens
50 red pens
50 mechanical pencils

Yeah, I don't think so. I think he used like 2 pens last year.
