Happy days are here again!! I love my child, but he's been so bored this past week or so that he's been a little tough to take at times. He had a good day at school and seems to like his teacher. He was very upbeat and cheerful when he came home, definitely a pleasure to have around.

He had a bit of "homework" - he had to gather a few items from around the house that reflected his interests and dreams. The bag will be part of sharing time during class so that they can get to know each other better. He's had to do something like that the past 3 years, I'm beginning to think that this is a pretty standard exercise.

Just wanted to share. Thanks for "listening".

Best Always,

Sherrie

They have sharing time in 4th grade? What do they do? Is it like show and tell sort of thing?

Just at the beginning of the year, kind of a get-to-know you type thing.

Best Always,

That is right, I forgot that they change class composition every year, don't they? Getting up and speaking to the whole class is not something they do too much at my kid's school. It is one of the elements in American education that I like.

At the same time I am imagining the mayhem we would have if a teacher had given dd the assignment your ds was given. She would be in a state for days trying to figure out what the teacher meant, trying to understand what hopes and dreams are. Once she had understood she would likely be horrified. If she has any of those, she would consider it too personal to tell others about.
