Should I tell or not worry ds this?...m

I have been told that my breast ultrasound I had done on last Friday is abnormal and the dr is sending me to a surgeon for a consult. The appt. is July 3 at 10:00 a.m. Dh is taking the day off to go with me. There was a place in my left breast that showed up last yr at this time and we have been monitoring it with ultrasound every 6 months but it has grown larger so my dr wants it checked out. When I had the biopsy done in January of 2001 on my right breast it was benign and I never told ds about it. He was at school when all of the appt. were scheduled and the biopsy was done on the first day back from winter break so I didn`t worry them about it since they would not understand. Zachary gets really anxious if he thinks something might be wrong so I am not sure how I will handle it if they decide to do another biopsy or procedure while school is out for the summer it will be harder to keep from him. Just wanted you to know and get your opinion on this. Oh and we got our Harry Potter book today so maybe it will keep my mind off of it some. Thanks for listening.

Amy, I truly hope that everything will be fine for you next week. Its very good that they've been keeping an eye on you so if there were anything, it should have been caught soon. I had no idea what to suggest but Janet's idea makes sense to me.

I tend to have trouble holding back information from Jonathan. I'm pretty sure that I'm wrong about that. Often kids are happy enough knowing something and don't usually know that there's more to it.

Again, positive thoughts your way.

((((Amy)))) Sorry you're having to deal with this. As for telling ds, I agree with Janet. His knowing that the appointment exists can't be helped, but he doesn't need all the details. I do the same with Sean, and for the same reason - he's a worrier.

Best Always,

First of all, I hope this turns out to be nothing to worry about.

I would just tell the kids you have a dr. appt. You don't have to tell them the whole story; they wouldn't understand. My dh just had a minor procedure on Fri. We did tell the kids about it, but not the details. My mil stayed with them in the morning. It happened to be the one day between school and camp, but dh really needed it ASAP because of discomfort, and that was the first opportunity.

We all have dr. appts. now and then. The kids don't have to know the details. If you come home uncomfortable, just tell the kids you are uncomfortable because the doc had to check you. You can be honest without giving every last detail.

Hope this helps at least a little for you to make a plan.
