Signed up for "Growing Up Girls" class
Thu, 10-21-2004 - 1:29pm

I just signed dd and I up for a "Growing Up Girls Class" offered through the hospital. I have heard good things about it. Has anyone else done one of these classes? I think it's called "Growing Up for Girls: Aspects of puberty and sexual health." It's for ages 10 and up, is two hours long and taught by a female doctor and female nurse. It includes a dessert bar!

DD and I have had "the talk" a couple of times, but I really wanted to do one of these classes before she gets the sex-ed lecture at school. I remember my mom taking me to one of these classes and although I thought parts were really stupid and embarrassing, it was nice to be one of the kids "in the know" when they did the thing at school. I told her about it and she is really looking forward to it. I noticed that last night she had gotten out this "your body" book that we have had for years and was flipping through it.

Anyone else done one of these or planning to?

That sounds like a wonderful class - I too have had a few discussions with my just turned 11 year old & want to have a few more before the school program in the spring. thank you for the idea, I plan to check out hospitals in my area!
