I hope people will keep posting their ideas here because I am really at a loss. DS is turning 13 in a few weeks, and I have NO idea what to get him. My plan was to get him Rock Band for Wii, but a few weeks ago he gathered together probably 2 years' worth of birthday & Christmas gift cards & money and bought it for himself. When I ask him for ideas of things he wants, he can't come up with anything (besides outrageous suggestions like an iPhone or an iMac, ha). Clearly, the kid has everything he could ever need! :) But, he's a good kid and has been really responsible and making me proud lately; I would love to make him really happy for his birthday. And Christmas, too! Ay yi yi!

Not a clue here either for anything big. And I'm not buying clothes either!

I have quite a few small gifts in mind or even already bought--a couple books that she wants, a couple computer games she asked for. I was at Barnes & Noble yesterday (and I should've bought it then), and they have gift cards with the Twilight book art on them.

Looking for more ideas...

Gabby wants and I-phone too,but that is never going to happen, these kids tend to be a little rough with their phones.I am kind of annoyed about having to buy a new i-pod since hers is not even two years old,but she used the think constantly and most of her friends have had theirs always freeze on them too.I am hoping the tough is a better design.Rock Band is a cool game,bu Gabby quickly loses interest in video games,She'd rather dance or listen to music. The big stuff they want at this age is expensive too.I am kind of annyed dh told her the touch could be an early Christmas present, since I have no intention on getting her two big tcket items, and it is nice to get one on Christmas day.

I have no idea what Jackie wants either. She loves her phone and her ipod.... im not changing them. So the pc notebook she wants is not going to happen. I wont buy her clothes without her trying them on and "filling out the questionnaire" on each item. as well. So I have no clue. But since we are going on vacation i will just buy items for that. I am hoping that next year she comes up with some nicely priced items.

Laura, Jordyn has had her ipod Touch for about 2-3 weeks now, it seems pretty darn sturdy so far. She loves thing, but I would recommend getting a case for it. It doesn't fit in pants pockets or anything and when she first got it all I could think was it would get scratched or she'd drop it, etc. So I ended up getting her a nice leather Belkin case for it. She is glued to that thing even more than her ipod nano, there are a ton of things you can do with it. I wasn't real thrilled when she bought it at first, but she has even used it to make electronic flash cards to study for a periodic tables test which she ended up getting an A on.

Jordyn still makes a list out every year since we have all the extended and step family and no one lives near us anymore. 90% of her list was books and she asked for a few movies and TV show collections. So far I have bought her the 8 Simple Rules season 1 and a Hoops and YoYo tote bag. We are planning on buying her a computer, so that is really all she is getting this year from us, I just haven't decided on the specifics of the computer yet, i.e. desk top or laptop.

We're planning on going on a trip for 3-4 days and spend less on gifts. I'm tired of spending so much on stuff!

That is good to know.Gabby really was not rough with her nano(other than the headphones),but she really wants the tough and it does look really cool.Gabby has downloaded books on tappe to her i-pod before, that way she listened to them as she read along.Gabby is starting the peridic table nex week in science.

Jordyn isn't really tough on her's, but with a toddler in the house, its hard to make sure its always away from her. Emma seems to be able to find it and get it out no matter what she does. Jordyn was downloading books on cd to her Ipod also which worked out great. They have a ton of free downloads on itunes for the touch, games, things to help with homework, etc. which is nice also.
