Sometimes they do listen

I was just thinking. Last year about this time there was lots of garbage happening in her class and way too much boy/girl stuff in general and I informed her that 11 year olds do NOT date, talk to me when you are 14. Then it was never raised again. Of course they are still interested in boys and I saw a friend had said (yes, I skim her MSN periodically) "you should date so-and-so" and her response was "I'm not allowed to go out on dates, I can only have in-school relationships." LOL So she listened. Woohoo. Will wonders never cease? So sometimes even saying it once is enough for the message to sink in. I can't do much about the in-school relationships (not sure what that consists of since it seems boys hang with boys and girls hang with girls) but I guess I don't have to worry about some boy showing up on my doorstep waiting to take her to the movies.

LOL---WOW that is one for the record books!

Ramona Mom to 2 great kids and wife to one wonderful hubby since 1990!
Isn't that great?!
That's a good point. She may well be a bit relieved she doesn't have to deal with it (not that she'd admit it). I have also told her she can use me as an excuse and I know I did it in school too. Mean parents won't let me. Whew. ;-)
I'm not sure what an in-school relationship consists of either. I think it might involve passing notes if you like the person in your class and maybe saying hi as you walk past each other outside (boys in one pack, girls in another LOL) but I figure she can experiment there and save the big stuff for later.
