Spa Day Update

For Mother's Day, DH got me a Spa Gift Certificate which including a massage, facial and manicure/pedicure. Well, I didn't really want the manicure/pedicure, so asked if I could trade that for something else, and was told that if I deviate from the package, I can just use what he spent (and it was plenty!) and do it all ala carte. And, in talking further, found out that if I go Sun-Thurs, the cost of services is a little less expensive. Well, after being there 2 times before, I think I have finally perfected the Spa Experience! LOL

I got there at 7:45 so as to make use of all their facilities. (I do classes and such in the a.m., and my services in the afternoon.) So, here was my day:

8:00 - Early A.M. Stretch Class (sort of like yoga)

9:00 - Lower Body Workout (and they worked us out!)

10:00 - Pilates

11:00 - Went to the 'cascading waterfalls' by the swimming pool. There are 2 ... 1 hot water, 1 cold ... where you sit under this intense waterfall, like getting a massage. Going from the hot to the cold was refreshing. Afterward, I layed out by the pool for awhile.

11:45-12:45 - Used the hot tub, steam room, sauna.

1:00 - 50 min. Swedish Massage

2:00 - European facial

3:00 - Tropical body wrap (coconut milk and pineapple ... Tahiti flashbacks!)

4:00 - Manicure

How's that for pampering myself? LOL

The only 'down' to my day was that during the manicure, it started to rain ... poured like I haven't seen it in ages. So, I was planning to leave then (and had turned in my robe and such already, or I'd have gone back in the steam room!) so I waited an hour for that to let up. At that point, the traffic was horrendous ... but rain and major traffic, I still didn't get stressed out, so I know my day was effective.

Anyway, it was an absolutely perfect day. I left my cell phone off, didn't check in with anyone (not work, not home) ... I even stopped by the office on the way home NOT for any work, but to have a glass of wine with 2 of my best friends who were working late.

This is something that everyone needs to do at least once a year. I, personally, had a ball. I went alone and basically didn't talk to anyone ... just cleared my mind and relaxed.

Go for it. It is SOOOOOOOOOOO worth it. I only go once a year (can't really afford this place more often than that) but I usually do the massage and facial ... do a class or 2 (this time 3) ... use the hot tub/steam room/sauna stuff ... but I 'always' try to do at least one 'new' thing. One year I did a stress reducing herbal body wrap which I loved. Last year I had a loofah scrub AND a 50-min sports pedicure (50 min of someone playing with your feet ... pure heaven!) This time was the tropical wrap (and the waterfalls which I'd not done before.) It is just so fun to be pampered!

Sounds wonderful! I also have a couple of spa gift certificates to use from my dh and also from my work friends at my going away lunch. I always use them for manicures, but I was thinking of trying a pedicure, which I've never done, and maybe some kind of facial. (I have a massage therapist elsewhere, so I don't think I would use it for that. I have trouble relaxing with a new person.)

I think I'll call to make an appt. tomorrow, LOL!
