In our house, Rachel (11.5 yo 6th grader) is gearing up for softball. She attended 2 clinics, which turned out to be led my a female pro softball player. The clinics weren't well-attended, only about 4 girls each time, so she got so much out of them. Rachel had a blast, and is really psyched for the season now. The instructor autographed a small poster of herself in her catcher's gear, which Rachel has hung on her wall. So cute!

Baseball here. It seems like SO many kids 10+ are in these 40-60+ game/season leagues around here...I'd worry about baseball being his 'life' and school would take 2nd place since it starts in April (and practice starts in January for many) and we go into June for school (I'm hearing about frequent double and 'triple headers' on weekends; I can't imagine how kids could give it their all with those schedules). DS's league is through his school district, and they play 10 games as a learning/recreational league, which is his speed. He tried out for a team that played about 45 games and did fine, but he just couldn't give that kind of commitment with his other activities (Jr. Academy of Science and Boy Scouts) and school...

Baseball here, my 10yr ds, is trying out for a majors team this season. He also did a baseball clinic with some pros, and it was crowded, i would like a smaller clinic with some more one on one time, but still they are learning from experienced players. He made all-stars last year, so baseball went into August, but it was fun. (did I say that..lol), my dd (6) still isn't doing sports because of leg surgeries, but so wants to play softball, maybe next year. So it is easy for us, only one in sports right now. Basketball just finished, so now it is onto BASEBALL!!!! Tracey
