Stanford 10 testing

This was the first year my son ever took the Stanford test...and got results back. I was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on the test, what the test really means and from what I know of my friends who have kids in other counties, the tests can be different. My son seems to have tested very well as far as what I can tell. Any thoughts anyone?

That's one I'm not familiar with but I'm assuming that it is a standardized test that is supposed to measure their comprehension of materials that are in the curriculum.

Our kids take a different test each year (I think it's called Metropolitan?) plus the PA required testing. IMHO, standardized testing does have *some* value, but as Sherrie said, it has to be understood as *part* of the evaluation of how a child is doing. Some kids do well on these tests, and some kids just don't test well. It can also be helpful in letting the district know where it's curriculum is weak, if most kids are doing poorly in certain sections.
