I know its still a good 4-7 weeks until kids get out of school depending on where you are at, but summer camp registrations are almost already full up.  What does everyone have planned for their 10-14 year old this summer.  Any family vacations already planned or in the works?

And for those still on the board with older ones, we definitely want to hear from you also!!

Tracy- that's a whole lot of change happening in your home :)  Glad you are going to get to spend more time with your younger girls.  And early congrats to Jordyn.  Graduation and the summer after for us last year was just crazy- but it is just so neat to see your kids "out in the real world" and succeeding :)

It could be a really busy summer for us.

Kristen is done with school on the 18th.  She's got to stay and play in commencement.  If I've still got this temp job dh said he would go up the day before hand with a rental car, pack her stuff and then bring her home the next day.  I have no idea where he'd stay.  Lynchburg doesn't exactly have a ton of hotel rooms (and one would think they would- Liberty is a gigantic campus).  The owner of the B&B we stayed at in Feb said that hotel rooms are really hard to find come the month of May.  He may have to drive an hour either west or east, then come back and get her.

Then there's the family stuff.  My sister, her husband and my mom HATE Texas.  My bil went and took a demotion in January- that's how done he was with his job and the area.  I guess it's going to work out- they are now building a house in the state where they came from, and they are moving back come July.  The thing is- he is INSISTING on having 2 drivers in each car they're driving back (3 cars total)  Yeah- both dh and I think it's just silly.  Because either dh or I have to fly down to TX, then do the 2 day drive with my mom to bring her back to SC.  Sigh.  And no, he won't let Kristen do it (even though she's 19).

Then there's the inlaws.  They have lived in the same place for 40+ years.  A couple of times they've tossed out the idea of "We are going to sell the 100 acre farm and move closer to family".  Their farm is a 30 minute drive one way away from my sister in law.  I hate, hate HATE going out there to visit because WE have to drive back/forth/back/forth every single day  of our visit b/c nobody wants to drive out to the inlaws- and the inlaws don't want to go anywhere.  This is on top of a 12 hour drive one way to the inlaws.  Sigh.  Anyways- every time they've floated this idea-  MIL has decided that nothing she likes is as good as her farm.

Well I think this time they may both be done.  Fil hates taking care of the yard.  It's about 2 acres he has to mow.  Yeah- it's a riding mower, but even that is hard for him now.  Mil can't drive at night anymore- and Fil goes to bed at 7pm so she's stuck out there, all by herself unless she can get a ride to and from.  The house they looked at, my nephew is the agent.  If he sells it- he will have enough money to be able to get married next year (he's been engaged for 2+ years)  If they sell, I guess we need to go help them clean out the house since I'm assuming what they would get would be smaller than what they have.  And there's 40 years worth of "stuff" there- stuff from when my husband was a child.

It just kind of frustrates me.  The job I've got right now does have work up until the middle of June.  I put in for a summer camp postition at a camp for kids with special needs.  They've also got a group home for the kids, they are always looking for people to help out there.  Kind of wanted to see if I could get hired on in the fall with them.  However- if this place takes me on- how willing will they be to let me take 2 weeks off of an 8 week job?  Sigh.

The kids aren't going to be required to go to either thing.  Kristen HAS TO WORK.  Becca would like to work.

Kristen wants to see the BF.  He lives in Baltimore.  A 4 ish hour drive one way.  I don't know if he'd come here- or she'd go there.  If we took her there, we could make a trip to see dh's aunt and uncle who live about  30 minutes from DC.  It's been a while since we've seen them, and they're getting up there in age as well.

Could be very intesting around here.

We don't do vacations and I doubt we'll even be able to camp this summer. I feel badly about it since it's Kayleigh's last summer for sure with us.

I am hoping to work summer school.  Kayleigh (senior) is filling out job applications, since it seems like the camp that she worked for last summer isn't hiring her back, she hasn't gotten an offer.   Ian, not sure. He will be going to a week of scout camp in August. If he gets a scholarship, he might get a second week. He may apply for a CIT position at scout camp for the first three weeks, or he might do a 3 day 4H program if his grandparents offer some $$$, and then spend some time doing volunteer work with 4h
