Surgery & Asthma

My daughter has asthma and is probably going to have to have her tonsils taken out. She has had the asthma since she was a baby and has been put to sleep in the past and has also been sedated. I don't know why I am feeling so afraid about it this time, but I was wondering if anyone else has had a child in the same situation and how it went for them? Did the hospital staff take any extra precautions that you are aware of?
Thanks!
Tonya

Hey there, Tonya! I have a child that suffers from asthma as well. He hasn't had to have surgery but I too have asthma and I had surgery last year. I was KNOCKED out!! I came out A-Ok!
There is nothing to be worried about, from an asthma standpoint . The anesthesia actually help the lungs relax. You should share your concerns with the ped/surgeon though.
My DD has her tonsils out last May and she did fine!

Thanks for sharing your experience with me. I plan to bring this up tomorrow when we see the ENT. I guess I was just looking for the reassurance from someone else who had a child experience the same situation.
