Do you celebrate big, or are you pretty mellow about it? My dh and I made sure to call our mothers, who don't live nearby. I had sent cards also. Dh got up to take the kids to religious school this morning. Lately, I've been getting up with them, so that was a treat. I slept until 9:15! He brought home bagels and spreads for a nice lunch. He and the kids presented me with cards and 2 flowerpots, one annuals, one perennials for outside. Dh made nice choices - not typical at all! What was really cute was that dh and I had a humorous e-mail exchange with friends this week about our favorite candy. I said mine was good dark chocolate with almonds. He went and found some for me! It was only Hershey's, but it was good.

I told Rachel it would be a treat if she watched an episode of Trading Spaces with me, that I had taped from last night. She likes the show, too, but doesn't always sit through it with me. I also played some hoops with her on the driveway.

Sam and Rachel both practised their instruments with only one reminder, so that was a nice treat, too!

We went to our favorite Chinese restaurant for dinner, and then out for water ice.

I had a nice, relaxing day! Hope you had fun and some relaxation, too!

My mother`s day was interesting to say the least. The day before ds Zachary had a game at the middle school ball field to make up for one that was postponed because of rain. All of the boys on the team including my ds acted like brats! We lost the game 12-5 and it was scorching hot out there with the only shade in the dugout. I got blistered on my leg and arms and my youngest ds got it on his neck. The game went into extra innings because the ump apparently thought it was fun to sit out in the sun and burn UGH!! Anyway after the game I was pulling around the parking lot to leave and the coach`s mom was backing out of a parking space she didn`t see me and backed into me messing up the front passenger side of the car. My front passenger door is jammed and there is bumper residue left all down the passenger side from her Honda Passport I was in a Plymouth Reliant car so her bumper hit almost the top of the door. I am glad that Zachary was not hurt since he was sitting on that side at the time. I also had to deal with my dh and his brother not getting along as usual up at my mil on Mother`s Day for lunch and my ds knew I was still upset about the car accident and gave me my presents early Timothy gave me a paper mache` basket with flower seeds he made at school and Zachary gave me a candle that he and dh had picked out together. Hope all of you had a better Mother`s Day than I did.I will be glad when the woman`s insurance calls me back so I can get my car fixed but until then I am driving it like it is and just putting the ds in the back seat.

this was the first yr that we spent mothers day as just us, usually we have our large extended family around. i thought that it would make me sad, but we had a nice day. my oldest ds ~ 15yr ~ got his learners on sat (now, that will make you feel old quick!!) so he gave me a hand made certificate offering to be my personal cheuffer LOL he also gave me a beautiful bible cover and drove me to and from church. my middle son gave me a small cast iron frying pan and my chelly, my 10y dd, gave a wire plant stand and a watering can. my dh gave me a cd that i have been wanting and grilled steaks for lunch. the kids took care of the side dishes, so i did NOTHING, dd even made my fav. cake for desert - coconut creme. it was great ! that afternoon we visited w/friends, swam in their pool and the dads and kids had a baseball game. overall, it was nice layed back day. i could use a mothers day about once a month !!

Kelli is 7 and totally into the 'giving' part of holidays. She even informed me that she KNOWS how much I like the handmade stuff better then the stuff they buy, and is constantly making me pictures and cards ... and tries to get really creative. She even gave me a $5 bill in an envelope! LOL I think she loves getting cash in her cards and such and figured I'd be just as excited. She really cracks me up. Definitely balances out Kevin, the grouch, who barely even wished me a "Happy Mother's Day." Sigh! Oh well.

Book your Spa Day! Actually, the first year that DH did this for me, I was thrilled ... but it was just as exciting knowing I had it, and whenever I felt really stressed, I kept thinking "yeah, but I'm going to need it more ... things will get worse." I'm planning to go by next month, however, only because I got an e-mail from this place offering a special 'discount' on a Tropical Wrap ... ? (Like $75 instead of $125 or something insane like that ... but since my b'day and valentine's day were ignored, I think for sure I need to be sure I get the TOTAL treatment. LOL)

I love spa gift certificates, too. I still haven't used the one dh gave me for Valentine's Day - gotta get that scheduled! Enjoy!

I miss the little hand-made gifts my kids used to make at school. They're not into doing crafts at all at home.

Spent Saturday with my family (mom, dad, brother, sis and their families) so we had "Mother's Day" early, allowing each of us a day to relax and NOT have any obligations on Sunday, which was nice (although we did pick up dinner and take it to my inlaws, which was o.k.) I, too, slept late ... 8:00, but for me, that's a record! Kelli (my 7 y.o.) gave me all sorts of handmade gifts (things from school as well as others she made at home.) DH gave me a gift certificate for a Spa Day at a luxury spa nearby which I wanted (needed?) ... this is the 3rd year he's done this, and I love it! Massage, Facial, Manicure/Pedicure ... full use of all spa facilities including hot tub, sauna, equipment and classes. They even have a therapeutic water fall that's a treat. (I also usually add an extra service 'just because' and will probably go for some type of stress reducing body wrap.)

Took Kelli to the zoo just for a bit ... it was 90+ degrees out, so that didn't last long ... then picked up sushi for lunch and ate it with a wine cooler while relaxing by the pool with my feet up. That's all I wanted ... to do NOTHING!

All in all, it was a nice weekend. Kevin was in a mood, but I opted NOT to let it get to me.

(((HUGS))) and happy (belated) Mother's Day to all ...

Dh had to work, but the kids and I went to my Grandma's for a family lunch. We did hot dogs with all the trimmings, baked beans, macaroni salad, chips and desserts on paper plates LOL. I said "it's Mother's Day and I am a mother and I am NOT washing all those dishes for 17 people!"

I got half ownership in a new gas grill LOL. Dh and I decided to buy one Thursday and call it our Mother's Day/Father's Day present.

Brooke got me two beautiful ceramic refrigerator magnets and a beautiful card. She also made me a banner that says how much she loves me.

Tyler made me a wreath at school out of the craft foam. It has different colored and sized sunshines with smiley faces and googly eyes. Then it has a magnet on the back to hang it on the fridge. He also made me a teapot card with a cute poem and a bag of tea and a paper flower arrangement. Each flower has a chore listed on it that he will do for me.

A very nice, sweet Mother's Day. I love the little gifts they make at school and pick out themselves!

Sounds like a very nice day for you!

We just stayed home most of the day. DH was working. I cleaned up a bit in the yard, DH had cleaned the maple seeds out of the gutters so I cleaned up the mess out of the yard. I have never seen so many seeds come off these trees. The nieghbors lost a huge limb out of their tree and some people down the street lost a whole tree. We had horrible winds all day long. We lost one small limb this evening but nothing major.

We went to my brother's house for dinner then a quick stop at Wal-mart to pick up the pictures of the tree for the neighbor. Dh got home and kids to bed. Nothing too exciting here. DH got me a new grill earlier this week, it's a Grill to Go to take camping. Should be very nice and much easier cooking than before. DD found a wind sock in the yard that she cleaned up and made me a nice card. She told me she didn't have any money left to buy me anything so she did her best to clean it so she would have a gift to give to me. What a sweetie!
