Chelle, I am very sorry to hear that your grandfather is so sick. My prayers are with your family during this difficult time.

I know that you'll have just the amount of strength you need to make it through each day....it may seem you won't have any left for tomorrow, but it will come just in time. (((hugs)))

I am so very sorry to hear this. I am new to this board but your title caught my attention. It seems that the schools should have no problems excusing kids for grave family illness. My mom died of cancer a few years ago, and I know how hard it is. I will say prayers for your grandfather and your whole family.

Chelle, I am so sorry to hear of your grandfather. We just found out recently that DH's grandfather has cancer also and doesn't have a long time to live.

You and your family are in our prayers!

Huge, huge cyber hugs to you and your family!!! Having just been through this with my aunt, I know you'll find the strength you need. Just when you think there isn't any more, you'll find it down deep. Hold your grandfather's hand and tell him how much you love him.

The kids will understand and I'm sure the school will work with you. Tell your kids the basics and then take your cues from them. Let them know they can ask any questions they have. If they're anything like my two, their questions will be more pragmatic than anything else and those will be easier to answer than you think.

Make sure you take some time for yourself. Read, take a bubble bath, go for a walk, etc.

(((Hugs))))
