Things going well for Kristen

Things seem to have really improved the last bit at school. She always takes awhile to adjust to new situations. For the first month she was "bored". She's still finding the work not very challenging (they are doing the exact same unit in Social Studies they did last year in Grade 6) but things have improved.
She is supposed to get an award today. Her class voted on who were the best leaders in their teamwork field trip this month. Kristen was voted one of the best leaders by the class and they are having an awards ceremony today and she was supposed to get a certificate in front of all the Grade 7's. She LOVED the field trip, despite pouring rain and coming home soaked they had so much fun. She's gone from wishing she could go back to her old elementary school to putting "7D Rocks" on her MSN tag. Quite the change.
She had the great volleyball try-outs, she's getting to go to her other band members in music, she's finding a few friends outside of her elementary school circle and I think she's finally feeling at home. Its good to see. She was also very excited as they were having a school dance today which she was so looking forward to. We even braided her hair last night so it was nice and kinky this morning.
So I'm feeling good about her school year. I met with the principal this morning to discuss the ski club. A couple of other mothers also came so we might help with that. If we get enough snow this year. Last year they had to cancel it. The principal is really nice and seems like a fair administrator. So far so good.

I hope your doing okay. And its great to hear that Kristen is doing better.
Take care
Sounds really good Tam. It takes time to adjust to a new school & I've heard middle school is the worst, high school is a breeze. it must be the change over from being watched over in elementary to being independant & morte or less on their own in middle school.
How was the dance? Did she have a good time? BTW how did your hair cut turn out?

That's terrific! Sounds like she's going to have a great year! Some kids really do take a little longer to transition than others. It's great to hear things are going well for her. It's so nice to see them "come into their own".
Did she enjoy the dance? Is she still riding? Catch me up!
I have to wait until tomorrow to hear about the dance. Waaah. LOL She's at her Dad's so I'll have to be patient. I saw one of her friends put that the dance was great in their MSN tag so hopefully for Kristen as well. She's still riding. I'm just kind of watching right now. Seems the kids went from jumping in June back to basics in September. How could they backslide in 2 months? Kristen is enjoying it though and likes her instructor so that is something. The first lesson of each month they do bareback games which she loves.
I miss not posting at work. I feel like I'm really out of the loop but for some reason it just keeps coming up with errors on the page and then it won't let me post. It did for awhile but not now. I can read but not post until I get home and on Wed. that means closer to 9:00. Oh well, better late than never right?
I'm glad to hear she's adjusting well to the new school.
I'm glad she is having a good year!

Luckily my 6th grader is adjusting well to middle school. She just finished her woodshop rotation and loved it! i think it was good for her to do woodshop.
