Things going well for Kristen

Things seem to have really improved the last bit at school. She always takes awhile to adjust to new situations. For the first month she was "bored". She's still finding the work not very challenging (they are doing the exact same unit in Social Studies they did last year in Grade 6) but things have improved.

She is supposed to get an award today. Her class voted on who were the best leaders in their teamwork field trip this month. Kristen was voted one of the best leaders by the class and they are having an awards ceremony today and she was supposed to get a certificate in front of all the Grade 7's. She LOVED the field trip, despite pouring rain and coming home soaked they had so much fun. She's gone from wishing she could go back to her old elementary school to putting "7D Rocks" on her MSN tag. Quite the change.

She had the great volleyball try-outs, she's getting to go to her other band members in music, she's finding a few friends outside of her elementary school circle and I think she's finally feeling at home. Its good to see. She was also very excited as they were having a school dance today which she was so looking forward to. We even braided her hair last night so it was nice and kinky this morning.

So I'm feeling good about her school year. I met with the principal this morning to discuss the ski club. A couple of other mothers also came so we might help with that. If we get enough snow this year. Last year they had to cancel it. The principal is really nice and seems like a fair administrator. So far so good.

Yeah, I get something called a "syntax error" and it says there are errors on the page. It looks normal but the box where you type in won't come up. *shrug* I don't understand computer.

Kristen had a great time at the dance. She still has sore feet today. She said she stayed in the gym and danced and talked the whole afternoon. She even slow danced with 5 different boys who asked her, all as friends but she seemed happy with that. So I'm glad she had a good time.

Happy to hear she had a great time at the dance. She's growing up Mom. :)

Now about that error. Is it Ivillage or is the problem on your work computer?

I'm glad to hear Kristen is ajusting well to 7th grade.Gabby started middle school in 5th grade her biggest adjustment was the amount of homework she got.She went from almost no homework to tons of projects and over 2 hours of homework.

I hope Kritsen enjoyed her dance.Did you get to hear about it yet?Gab likes to braid her hair to make it kinky too.Although scrunching gell works pretty well on her hair.

The dance was a huge success, for her anyway. She really enjoyed it. I have found the homework so far this year has been minimal. A few more projects but no more than 30 min. of homework a night. So I'm not complaining. However one of her friends in a different class has well over an hour per night. Apparently if the teacher doesn't feel they have enough homework lined up she adds to it until it is over an hour. I find that kind of pointless, just to assign work for the sake of work and not because the child needs to develop further skills or finish work from class.
